Goggle Foam

Ok put your thinking caps on;

Problem: goggle foam around the vents deteriorates.
The lens can be replaced so there is no point throwing the goggles away save this issue.

During summer the dust gets to be a problem. But if you glue thick foam (or stuff it in the inside) your goggles will fog up in other conditions.

So what I need is a thin gauze to glue around the edge.

There is a self-adhesive medical gauze that may be breathable enough to stop the fogging up. It comes in a roll like electrical tape, and is available from chemists. The exposed glue may attract extra dust though.

You need a vent at teh top I'd say so heat can escape. MAybe dril some holes then fir some fine gauze? Mitre 10 should have something?

google fogging . for that reason on enduros I use sunnies . here in Summer it gets real hot, and I sweat heaps that s why i use sunnies
I reckon the air flow , replace the foam as per weather strip used to seal drafts , then a whole lot of small holes at the top and bottom of the lens

I pull that foam off to stop my goggles and glasses fogging.
And ride all year like that, sorry I throw them away.
But I'm not racing any more, so only have 1 or 2 bikes in front.
Not 40 bike churning up the track off the start line.

Maybe try one of those dish cloths (chucks), they thin and cheap.
Or maybe cheese cloth.
Worth a go any way, and it may need a bit of oil to trap the dust if it is to fine.
Or go to a heating and ventilating place and see if they have a old filter
laying around.
It will not be rubber, but you should be able to glue it down.

Use the flash new goggles on dusty summer days and keep the ones with no foam for winter riding fitted with roll offs. I don't notice the lack of foam myself, maybe I'm too far behind.

I have replaced the thin foam before with other thin foam. Always get some of this in packaging and the like so it is available. Never tried a thin gauze, but it has to be something that will catch the dust and foam with its multi air cells does.
