Couldn't agree more with you. Even if ideas are based on logic, most people have their "buttons".

I would like to meet someone who says they found it impossible to be offended by something. First thing I would do is visit and take a dump in their swimming pool or similar. I am sure we could find their button fairly quickly. There are loads of unspoken rules which moderate our speech and behaviour all the time - they are just invisible until someone breaks one of them.

Too philosophical now for my own good. I am getting back to work before I get the sack. THAT would offend me.

While I really don't care, I was reminded that some people really do. Advise caution when discussing this face to face with people who may have a Catholic background.
I have a catholic background , and it doesn't worry me. Hard to believe that the guy who created the Universe is going to get her tits in a tangle about a TV show. I probably won't see it, just cos when you seldom watch TV it's hard to remember to turn it on when there is something , but if I do I don't imagine it'll bother me. South Park's usually pretty funny, and I doubt it will be malicious (if it were , shrug, the faith that survived persecution by the Roman Emperors can handle South park). Like someone said, storm in a tea pot.

I dont usually watch South Park and i wont be watching this one, perhaps i'll download it sometime to see what the fuss is about.

What i find anoying is that just after all the mohammed cartoon bullshit, our self rightious media have decided to piss off another group of people just to keep the ball rolling, it wont be long before they're playing kiddy porn and telling us "if you don't like it don't watch it",

I can understand accedentaly stumbling into the mohammed thing, i dont quite think anyone saw that comming but they've apploigised and hopefully forgiven, but C4 have pushed the catholics buttons before with Pope Town, seems to me Canwest see them as soft targets?

I wonder which group they're going to piss off next? :eyepoke:

*keeps reminding myself to read the thread and not stare at Damon's avatar*

Popetown was stupid too... good at taking the piss out of the Catholic religion but only funny if you actually had an issue with catholics...

Like the movie "Saved" very funny... if your not a Christian... or if you have a grudge against them...

Popetown wasn't funny because it just wasn't funny.

I'll be watching Southpark tonight, but I would've been watching it whether there had been extra publicity or not.

The episode is more offensive to alcoholics anonymous than it is anti-catholic. Not to mention people with a Japanese accent. Personally I like the mindless puerility of south park. It gives me great comfort to know that chairman Helen doesn't get it. It is disappointing that in this country freedom isn't valued or respected. If you want to be free then you have to be prepared to put up with what other people choose to do with their freedom, including making silly cartoons.

I get Southpark, but find Invader Zim to be stupid and annoying, not cute/funny.

We each have our own sense of humour, and we are both right in our views.

I choose not to watch Invader Zim. Those who don't like South Park usually choose not to watch it too, the ratings for this episode will be disproportionately high because of the people who are watching it for the publicised content only. Ratings = $$$

It's a great episode, it's up there with "All About Mormons" and "The Passion of the Jew".

If you want a site to download it from, this one, is probably the best.
