Another one bites the dust

I was Just coming home from paying my $80 speeding fine and thanks to some light rain and some oil on the road the R6 now needs repairs done to the tail section

Came down the hill and cut tight on a corner slower than legal speed (can normally take the corner at 50-60kmh in the dry and i was doing 30ish) I got caught on a wet/oily patch and the rear wheel let go, the bike did a 180 on the ground and stopped wheels first just before the gutter on the other side of the road.

I have a hole in my jacket and jeans and corresponding burnt/grazed skin.

Thankfully my pillion peg was out (???) and the bike landed on the peg and the handle bar saving the majority of the fairings from their impending doom. The side cover is scratched up and the tail section had a big chunk taken out of it. I'm gonna get it plastic welded and maybe get a custom paint job done on the tail.

So take it easy people, its the stuff you dont think will make a difference that will catch you out.

That's how the 14 shot away on me when we hit the wet patch coming down the Hikuias. Just enough moisture to bring the grease to the top. Bugger all you can do about it when it goes from dry to wet on the same sweeper.

Real pleased it wasn't worse. Can shake your confidence in the wet once it happens though.

Yeh, i didnt actually see that the corner was wet untill i picked the bike up and looked at the corner

I remember that the only thing i said was when i was sliding down the road - "you fucking slut" wierd what you say when you are in a shit situation.

The repair will be relatively cheap. I'm almost contemplating leaving it to see how long it takes for my olds to see the damage, but knowing my dad its best to tell him now otherwise he will assume it happened at the trackday this coming weekend.

will take the handle bar over to my mates at the airbase so i can get it straightened in the morning, it' still rideable and i gotta go to work.

And i suppose that its a good oppurtunity to ask the hottie at work out, cause "chicks dig scars"

Interesting you say that you didn't notice it was wet 'cause same thing just happened to me. Dry as roads most of the way home, come off the motorway at the Te Atatu exit, get half way into the corner at *ahem* slightly more than the recommended speed, and realise it's wet.

No problems at all with the trusty pilot powers guaranteed to grip to 41degrees in the wet...

but with the weather we're having today be careful out there peeps! Dry roads can be wet in a nanosecond!

Hope it doesnt cost much and you ok .....

My advice I gave to people who bought new Jap bikes with fairings
Go and buy a race fairing , or a cheap aftermarket one . Take the original off wrap it up and store it in the attic,

Now take your NEW bike and spank its bottom, ,

when you come to sell it , put the original fairing back on and the money you spent on the race fairing will be given back to you when you sell the now brand new looking bike ..... * that cartwheeled out of turn one on track day

Or buy a bike that doesnt use a fairing ,,,
