    Stopped by the Police

Just came home from a mates place, and went past a Mufti Cop on the way (all of 1km probably) anyway as I pulled into my street he appeared behind me, so I pulled over jumped off my bike and walked over to him, he hopped out and said that I was "giving it a bit to much stick", and he could "hear it excessively revving" after directing him to shine his torch on the rev counter to explain that 10,000 revs isnt really that high on a motorbike he had a good look aroung the bike, didnt ask to see my (non existent) license and then started asking me questions about it, told me he wasn't a cop that liked to ticket people, and kindly advised me to try and keep it quiet then left.

Congratulations, I now have a new found respect that there are SOME decent cops out there

i suggest you get a licence, that *could* have become rather expensive for you.

Yeah, it has crossed my mind, after 5 years since my basic handling course (which has now expired) I just cant be bothered. Was also stopped over the weekend at a compulsary breath testing stop, the cop there radioed in to check my license and the came back and said it was current and full, just lucky he didnt specify car or motorbike

Ah yes there are some good uns out there, lucky break bro, fuck getting a licence don't listen to the sensible ones out there.

I got pulled on my rescricted riding my TL1000S in palmy once, on my way home to welly, cop said i'd best get home quick smart, cause not every cop will let me off with a warning, good sort he was, so i celebrated with more than a few wheelies on the way home.

They have to supply the bike to do the basic handling course on, as you cant go there on your bike as you don't have a licence.

So they give you a bike to use, I did it on a scooter.

Most basic handling courses should provide bikes, they do here in the Eastern Bay.
There are a few guys here at work who own larger bikes and are now finally getting their learners. There must be close to 30 bikers here at work, one whole shift of 12 guys own bikes and ride on their days off.
Its best to be seen going through the process could be rather expensive as one guy from another mill found out 200kph with no licence at all, no warrent, no rego.

You can do your basic handling skills course on any sized bike. It is the legal test(s) that require a sub-250cc bike, i.e. learners and restricted.

There was a guy on a 1100cc katana doing the BHS when I did mine.

Pay you to get a licence,
Rode Without Appropriate Licence? = $400 & 25 demerits, if you have insurance (even 3rd party) it will go out the window when they find you have no licence.

My 2cents worth, do what you want.

is that only without any bike licence?
when i bought my 750 i was on my retsricted and i went into our insurer and specificaly asked them if i will be covered even though i was not on my full and i wasn;t supposed to be on a bigger cc bike.
they said i would be covered and i got them to print this on my insurance certificate. and they did this.
do you reckon they'd be able to get out of it even though it was stated on my insurance certs?

Their standard Terms and Conditions will override anything specific on your policy, they'd screw you over in an instant.
