Had my Buell serviced earlier in the week and day-am it's going good now. Nice one AMPS.
Front end problem sorted!
After researching and hanging out at ADVrider and the XB12X Yahoo group (which I now run) It appears that there are two types of XB12X
Ones with front ends that are skittish at freeway speeds - and ones that aren't.
Mine was not very comfortable on the freeway. the front end just felt a little bit wrong. Eveywhere else was fine - just freeway felt bad. Quasi and others tried one that was pretty bad too - worse than mine by the sounds of it.
however - using what I garnered online and consulting with AMPS I'm now quite happy with it.
The fix.
Set the suspension (Damping, rebound damping and pre-load) for 25kg more than the book suggests.
Pull the forks back down so the tops of the fork tubes are flush with the top triple clamp (rather than the 50mm the protrude through as standard).
Increase the torque on the pinch bolt at the steering head a few lbs.
Bike now remains 'neutral' till as fast as i've had it so far.![]()
Steeing is slightly slower - it takes a little more effort to 'flip flop' - it's still the easiest bike on the road to do it on however.
Got my luggage fitted too. turns it into a nice touring bike. cavernous, big bags - you can't lane split with them - but awwaaaay we go.
