    filled up with deisel

thought id take a couple of hours off from the motel and have a run over to shelly beach wharf from wellsford to have a couple of beers and some fish and chips for tea. absolute magic sitting there watching the world go by. choice f@c as well. headed back and stopped at helensville to fill up and bugger me I grabbed the deisel nozzle and shoved $15 in. yaaaarrrrrhhhh. the bloke at the shell station was incredible. helped me out with tools and draining the tank etc. top bloke. bloody expensive tank though.$45 to fill up the rf . turned into an expensive run. live and learn i suppose,

So you never noticed the warning sign, the extra safety latch on the pump or the nasty smell and oily feel before you did this?
    Cheers

Bugger mate. Guess it teaches a valuable lesson.
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

I see that nearly every day. It's a major pain in the arse for us as we have to drain, syphon or maybe even remove the tank.Of course they want it done right now which upsets the work we are doing....and then you find they have no money to pay...then are left with 40 litres of contaminated fuel to dispose of.

Now there are a couple of companies like Suckie Moto who come out and do it onsite - and charge $150.So now I don't do it...I give them Suckie Moto's number and watch them squirm and moan. Most pumps now have a latch on the diesel pump - but it doesn't stop them putting petrol in their diesel.

    What?
Not one comment about that being the usual fuel for an RF?

Hey at least it is probably better than putting water in the petrol tank to "cool" the engine down . One of my mates loned her van out and that's what happened. Supposidly they drained it "properly" but it ran terrible after that until we put some isopropel in it. What's worse is it was a automatic and it was for ever stalling at the intersections and was aweful to drive.

On a ride when a mate did the deisel fill by mistake. It was an older pump at an independently owned station so there were no warnings or special locks etc. We all just rolled in and filled. It can happen easy. My sympathies

    Classic.

Diesel pump handles are black. Petrol are red or green.

Was this filled into your car? If it was, you could have just continued with Petrol and she'll be alright. Might be sluggish but should still run. If it was your bike, MMmm,
90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.

This used to happen regularly in ambulance when we still had Dafs as the pool vehicles (petrol) and the crews changed back into the Mercedes trucks (diesel). Became a written warning offence.

Used to be good when we had the Dafs and were with Shell - refuelling a Daf once or even twice a shift = lots of Flybuy points. Now the fleet is with Mobil we don't get any perks!

Arrow Its surprising how often this happens with cages.

Few people at work have done it and then tried to drive away Ive got a deisel hilux cage, misses has a petrol cage and then there are the bikes. So far so good, but there is still awhile to go. All you can really say is bugger and pay whatever the charges are for fixing it IMO.
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.
