    RIDE THEM BOTH!!!

Dont worry about power... NO ONE can use all the power of either bike. There is more than what you would ever need in both.

I love my CBR but cant look past the R1. They both look sexy.

Come to Manfeild on on Saturday. There are bound to be both brands there, So come see em on the track.

For up to 12k I reckon the best deal you'll get is an '02 or '03 model of either. I personally wouldn't get a pre-2002 R1 as their handling wasn't quite sorted out back then.

The 954 Fireblade is just as nice IMHO, with a bit more comfort and civility.

If you're looking at pre-'02 models, then I'd go for the Fireblade without hesitation, as I value comfort and nimble handling over outright power.

Some mag did a comparo of all generations of R1 a little while back. I think they gve the '98 the win...but it was based on the 'essence of the R1', so it's kinda obvious that the first one would emody that the best. The '02 was said to be the most competent and refined, but lost because of this.

So there you go: '98 for thrills, '02 for speed and keeping your life, and the '00 in red and white gets my personal vote as the sexiest production R1

Innit great to have such a choice! If it's purely about looks as you say then the R1 wins hands down - sexiest Thou on the market IMO with the K5 in at 2nd.

Check out this comparison, i trust you're looking at the 2004+ models cos the CBR1000 didn't exist b4 then. :spudwave:
