    Back to the Dyno Charts

I'm not disparaging the validity of these charts but... Hang on a sec, and correct me if I'm wrong but let's take a closer look...

    First Pic: HP/RPM
#1 Both bikes make roughly the same max power (111.6 Vs. 108.8).
You are never going to notice where those 3 horses went.
#2 It looks like the blue line is stomping all over the red line, but in reality the Yammy just makes its power higher up in the rev range. Right?

    Second Pic: HP/MPH
#1 The blue line looks smooth and pulls nicely all the way to the finish = BORING! (Ohhhh... I'm gonna pay for that one )
The red line throws in a few kinks along the way which you may well be feeling when you wind it out. It's like a bit of red pepper powder in your noodles for a bit of kick.
#2 Eh? WTF? Top speed was only 227.2kmph (142mph) on the R6 this was obviously not top gear, was it?
#2a The blue line goes on for longer before dropping off against the rev-limiter = gearing, hello??? If you want to go faster, change your sprockets.

    Third Pic: Torque / RPM
Once again, the bikes are really close: 42.4 Vs. 45.4 (pounds/feet|Lbs whateva??). The trick here is that the chart has given the Y-axis really wide divisions and (as mentioned earlier) doesn't start at zero (naughty chart!).

In reality, the 600 class is fiercely competitive and all the contestants are neck-in-neck with each other. Total power output is going to be 'much-of-a-muchness and the deciding factor will really come down to which one handles better, personal rider preference (smooth or perky?), and which gets more attention from busty (chesty for the ladies) Uni students.

I guarantee that 99.9% of us would not be disappointed with any of the current offerings ~ that's why they sell so well.
    Keep it rubber-side down...

1/2: On a race track you will definately notice where 3 hp went, the GSX-R makes more power everywhere, so therefore will be completely throughout the rev range be faster

1: Smooth powerband is key, its getting the power down smoother, resulting in better predictability with wheelspin.
2: Most dynoing is done in 4th gear (sometimes 5th)
2a: changes acceleration and top speed... doesnt change the amount of power or where it is made.

All bikes make torque when idleing...and 3 foot pounds on the race track is still going to be alot different.

These bikes are mainly made for the racetrack then softened up for the road...

And your final point... I 100% agree... on the road most people will not notice the difference and the buyers decision will come down to taste...

All a much a muchness. They all go well. My understanding with the new R6 is, it is very track orientated. Other 600's make better road bikes. (Insert flame here)
As I dont race, (yes I can hear some of you snigger at the sheer thought of me on a track) the new R6 has less appeal to me than any of the other bikes. THAT coming from me is a big deal, as I am a big Yamaha fan. The pricing for Yamaha has always been the same, thru out all their product range they set prices with the belief they make the best product, so they can price it how they like. They market their product the same way. Whether it be true or not, thats for the consumer to decide.
I have to admit so far the the new R6 appears to be a little ugly , (Insert flame here) Its very angular, and just doesnt do it for me. WTF is the licence plate bracket doing. Looks like a ad-on. Without it, the backs kinda nice, but hey most of use require a licence plate and indicators.
I will reserve my final judgement on the R6 until I have seen the blue and black model as I really dont like white and red.
The art of being wise is knowing what to overlook.

i dont see the big deal, the rider is a major contributing factor in bikes so evenly matched, and if i was on a k5 thou id get beaten anywhere by a avereage rider on a r6 nomater what the dyno says
