Maintenance schedule for Warranty - Kawasaki

Well i've just brought myself an '04 ZX 636, which still has a year and a bit of warranty left. Its had its first service and is currently sitting just over 4500km. What I need to know is when I need to take the bike in for services in order to keep the warranty going. I understand the next one is around 5000-6000k?

Next service is 6,000kms, and every 6 there after.
Your user manual should say when and what the checks are, but the kawa shop will know them anyway

24,000 is a bit of a biggie. Mine went thru that last month, set me back $520 cos it's checking the valves and replacing all the filters, plugs etc etc..

Whats done at 6,000k? just fluid/filter changes? Cuz im hoping to have enough to get a scottoiler fitted at the same time (i always put too much lube on and it flicks everywhere.

I'm absolutly rapt with it eh, its such an awesome bike...

damn buggy $520 for 24,000 service
my gixxer when in for 24,000 service week before last, came out costing me $200 and that was 30mins them setting the suspension up for me after talking to the ohlins importer. The valves are checked before that.

You should really look at buying alot of parts you want for service before hand, eg i spread the cost out i buy a oil filter when ever i go to shop, so i have it sitting there.

But damn $520 is still alot of money just for a service, even with replacing, oil, filters, plugs etc?

they took the head off the bike to check the valves and clearances and also checked the chain tensioner and some other stuff. All itemised, and know they did a good job. Yeah, it's a bit steep, but it's what was called for. And the bike runs better for it too.

Things like the airfilter isn't cheap either. That alone is something stupid like a hundy.. stupid kawa.. And every serviceable part is replaced.. bar the brake pads and fluid, cos I've done that

yeah i got a bmc race filter in mine, so its reuseable just take it out give it a bit of a clean, which was put in at 5,000kms($110) and also ngk iridum spark plugs(4 for $50[wholesale rates]) which were put in same service which shall last until 50,000 i look at replacing them. meant to last over 100k

Not to sure if they had to take the head off the gixxer to do the valves. But still sounds rather steep to me, how much do they charge per hour labour wise?

no idea, I'll have to check. It was probably partially how much labour went into it, that bumped up the price, but the parts ain't cheap either. Filter, plugs, decent oil etc etc. plus fitting it all, and disposing of everything..
normal services are between $120 to $180..

yeah mine are normally just 1-2hrs labour, since i supply them with oil/filter, or whatever else they need. So simlar prices, if you take in account of + oil and filter.

Parts are motorbike stores never cheap, Hence reason i supply my own parts, eg 4 plugs are motorbike store you are looking at 2-25 each minium, so thats 80-100 where i got a set of iridums for $50 you work the difference, out. But also means i can keep a record of all parts which go on when and there prices

But you saying you put air filter, plugs, etc sounds about right.
