An absolute dead battery will have that effect, but why is it dead if it's only 1 month old? So it could be your regulator/rectifier that's stuffed which will cause your battery to run right down. Check your 30amp fuse (green one) cos when that blows it has the same effect as has happened with you, but if that's blown something else has probably caused it such as a blown reg/rec. Seems to be a common Honda fault.

Check you master fuse - its a 30A beast located in the same unit as the starter motor relay. Follow the chunky wire from the battery to the relay - disconnect the plug (no need to unbolt the chunky wires though), and your master fuse is in there. If it is blown, there should be a spare fuse located in the bottom of the relay housy thingie, and try that. BUT the spare maynot work as it could be corroded to hell (mine was!). But fuses are cheap from the servo.

I went back to bike shop - they tested it and replaced it straight away... They said that you can get the odd dud battery.

That battery went back to the distibutor.

There was no other cause for the battery to go like that... just a dud one.

I've had a new battery die too, twice. Interestingly both times it showed up about 3 or 4 weeks after fitting. But different picture, wouldn't hold a charge.

But, could be a weak internal connection in the battery vibrated through

I suspect it's much more likely the fuse or rectifier. Or both. Diode gone in the rectifier will short the battery to earth and blow the fuse.

Heh, well I guess that fuse is toast now right

Here's a tip: If it's a coloured blade type fuse, Jap cars often have an extractor tool under the fuse box cover. Just open the fuse box under the dash of your cage, and borrow that for a minute

he's on about my temper, i can hold it for so long but working on Honda's is a saints game, I am minus one mirror after becoming un-amused at my bike giving me the fingers and dying again preventing me from the ride last night. still it was cracked already, i'm not gonna miss it.
