I have only ever had Diablo's on mine and they were pretty good. The Diablo Corsa's are even more sticky but as mentioned don't last as long.

A BIG HUGE THANK YOU to the guys at Cycletreads for looking after me. You guys rock for service.

I now have Pirelli Stradas and they are mint. Mike and Mouldy (sp?) thanks for your help ..sorry its a belated thank you.

While down in the big smoke I visited Colemans and Haldanes to chew the fat over the suspension issues since the bike was lowered. Two different responses one could not expect. But thats for another thread.

These are the tyres that I was thinking of fitting to mine. I'm just coming to the end of the Pilot Sport front and Macadam rear which were good but wore out a bit faster than I'd anticipated. The Diablo range and also the Avon Venom seem to come quite highly recommended. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Strada is the more sport touring tyre of their range isn't it?
BTW I found the original Dunlop D220's just plain scary! The Michelins transformed the bike, for my riding style anyway.

The Dunlops I had on stock standard were pretty scary too. Thanks to Frosty we played around with some new tyres but didnt quite have it right.

The guys at cycletreads reckon that because I dont ride the bike to death (ie doing wheelies at 180kms an hour - oh no hang on thats Death) that Stradas were a better option because they get up to temperature fairly quick but will still be ok for the odd track day.

I just took my SV650S in for its 12,000km service and they told me my tyres haven't got long to go, so I'd better start saving for some new ones. The question now is, which ones to get. I've read all the posts in this thread, but I still don't know. Several people have said the stock Dunlops were scary, but I've never had a problem with them, so I'm tempted to stick with what I know and get some more. I'm definitely not a racer - probably more towards the nana end of the scale. I think I'm cornering faster as I get more confidence, but I still can't make an impression on my chicken strips (still about 10mm). I rarely scrape my toe, let alone anything else. About 50% of my riding is commuting. I'm probably in the "it doesn't matter, anything is good enough" bracket at the moment, but I do imagine (hope) I'll get a little bit better in my next 10,000km, so I need to make sure my tyres will be up to it. WMCC suggested Dunlops or Bridgestones, the latter being slightly cheaper (not that $500 + fitting sounds cheap). Any advice (preferably on tyres) welcomed. And note that I didn't start a new thread!!!

For general purpose you can't go past Metzeler Road Tec Z6, front and rear. They are a great sports tyre, and last well. SV's seem to go real well on them

    *bump*

Any other suggestions? The Metzeler Z6s sound good and are in the same price range as the Dunlops and Bridgestones, so that's good, too. Someone suggested a Metzeler M3 for the front...

Word on the street is that the Z6 is popular replacement on the SV thou. I'm going for another Pilot Sport on the back, and a full set of Z6s after that. Gotta try em all I guess
