today i test rode, courtesy of Boyd Honda Hamilton:

a 99 blackbird. mmmmm. bring on the 8000rpm mark in 3rd gear
a 99 ST2 duke. mmmmm. bring on decelleration from 8000rpm in 3rd gear
a 2003 CB1300. mmmmm. bring on warp factor torque in any gear, at any speed.

    all priced at $14000

Go the Vtwin engine braking - like a retarder - but for bikes

    CB1300 would be my choice.

    'Bird if you're a nancypants.

ST2 if you're a silly person who likes Ducati badges on tanks and long waits for parts to arrive.

You didn't actually BUY any of the above, did you? An new SV thou at the same price is arguably a better bike than any one of them. Not that I'm dissing your preferences in advance or anything, mind

True, you've mentioned being on the tall side before, haven't you. I really like the SV, but I'm 5'9".

Glad you agreed with me about the CB though. Nice choice!

[Edit: eh? what's with deleting your post there? Got cold feet? Did you buy the CB or didn't you?]

i took an SV with yoshi pipes for a spin a few months ago. sounded nice, rode nice, but i'm just too big for it - it's like a dinky bike under me. i reckon my RS was about the same size. it was pretty middle of the road build/parts quality too. no, for me it was the CB. surprised me too. the 'bird begged to be ridden hard and fast, but the CB inspired more confidence. STAGGERING torque too - different curve to the CBR. the duke came a distant last. i'm gonna have to ride a CB and a 'busa back to back now

i meant it FELT about the same. there is only 70mm difference in wheelbase, the seat height is almost the same. and yes - it had 2 pipes out the back.......
