my bike is a grey import and im a learner

i'm thinking of using Arista, has anybody heard anything about them?

No i havent..... i work for ASB, if your one of our customers, our underwriter insures bikes on our behalf.... and do a good deal esp if you have other insurances with us.... otherwise, try Nat auto club, or worst case, protecta do specific bike insurance and insure learners...

If your bikes worth less than $3k to $4k youre probably better off with 3rd party anyway. The high excess for being an Learner makes full cover uneconomical.

I am with AMI cause all our insurances are, and the bike rate wasn't excessive compared to other options.
Honda riders club do a pretty good deal, could be worth checking out the Ausie HRC (I see your in Victoria).
I take it you got your bike problems sorted (re read your first post).

I'm with the AA. Been with them for a number of years for the cages and due to my ability to avoid the other nutters on the road, I've now got max NCB for life. They don't normally do bikes and especially not learners but as I had been with them for so long, they contacted the underwriters to get it OK'd. Paid $180 fully comp.

Thats a bloody good deal swiftone! You must be truely trustworthy! Most fully licensed riders wouldnt be that cheap!

I guess your premiums must've put a few of their kids through varsity already eh!

p.s. good decision not riding in today (Friday). tempting this morning but turned into a real shocker!

You could always try an insurance broker. I've got all my insurance through brokers, and always get a better deal than directly through a company.

Won't hurt to give them a call.

I got mine through my bank (westapc) $10.00 a week for cover on my cbr250rr for $4,360. $800 excess if stolen & I think $500 if I cause the accident

I'm with National Auto Club.

Their premium might be a bit dearer, but when the time comes (like with my car) they are very quick in dealing with the claim. They are even nice enough not to take my no-claim bonus off because the damage was not too much ($3000 damage, of which $1200 is covered by my excess).

I used my Broker - he came back with a quote for my new VTR250 from Star Insurance (apparently they specialise in Bike insurance only?)

In any case, for around $700 per year, I got full comprehensive cover

Excess:
Theft: $2500 (ouch! - this may be because its new)
Anything else: $500
