Firstly let me say you have great taste in bikes!! Don't spose that 929 in your name has anything to do with a Honda does it??![]()
Everyone living in NZ on this site will testify to great roads and scenery in whicheva area they live - ride the whole country if you can!! Be careful though, i heard a high number of tourists end up becoming permanent residents down here cos it's sooo good.![]()

We'll have a couple of Sprint ST's with luggage at AMPS. But that's in Auckland, we do have a Christchurch drop-off service though. PM for details if interested.
PS The South Is is the better bike country.
Speed doesn't kill people.
Stupidity kills people.
I'm not much help either, but I also hope you enjoy your tripOriginally Posted by babyB

Iv929, the Ausies refer to NZ as the land of the never ending corner, maybe that should give you some idea of what its like here.
Mind you they haven't got many corners over there, they learn bike control dodging the flies!Get over here and "enjoy" motorcycle heaven!

Welcome to KB... I hope you enjoy your stay.. we all expect write-ups of your experience here in this beautiful country =)

Backpackers at about $20-25 are also another good stay option or the YHA(Youth Hostel Association). I live in the South Island and have posted up some pictures of these that I have stayed at & some of the scenery you can expect while touring on a bike. http://gallery.teamrc17.net/album11
cheers
Welcome...
I would have to agree the SI probably has the better rides, and views... the southern alps, lakes district ... I have been up and down the 99% of the tarmac in both islands and enjoyed the SI more especially up through Central Otago... its all good... motorcycle heaven... However 8 days...not enough... you will be just getting in to it and it will be over.
Anyway what ever you decide, enjoy it, and we do expect a progress report, and maybe you will meet up with some of theother riders through out NZ. :-)

I hope you have a great time here. I have yet to do the south island but as everyone on here has said it is supossed to be the best.
I'm just outside Wellington so if your travelling through let me know if you need a place to stop, stay or refresh and you'll be more than welcome to stop at mine.
I also help run a bar so can look after you when it comes to a drink and a feed out on the town
Where abouts in the uk are you from? I'm ex Ewell/Epsom
Good luck with the planning.
