Smile yoshimura 93 suzuki katana 250

    Hi all,

I have just been offered this bike to buy , i took it for a ride and it handles well and goes llike a bat otta hell (to a not so experienced rider anyway!!)

was wondering if any of you knowledgable bike riders out there have got any thoughts on this bike???

    thanks...

Ive owned one for 50thou kms, what is it you want to know specifically? My camchains needed doing at just over 30thou.. Mine was dropped a couple of times and each time I had to get carbon removed from valves (the last time I did it myself). I thought quite a comfortable bike when I did 8000kms around the south island one xmas.

mostly if there are any problems

that i should look out for and if these bikes are prone to do anything bad eg; sticki brakes, wobble under heavy break etc etc

    cheers

I never had any problems with my kat at all.
Check the front disc thickness, make sure its not too thin or unevenly worn.
Expect to replace the air filter at a cost of $80 - no aftermarket available.
Head and base gaskets are cheep if it needs to come appart for any reason, though, like the air filter, might have to be ordered from japan if not in stock. Oil filters are cheep and aftermarkets are available.
Check the forks and shocks for pitting/rust/leaks!! Should the rear shocks fail there are koni shocks that fit, at a cost of around $400 (from memory?)

How many kms has the bike done? What sort of price is the person asking for it?
