Lost the bolt for my swing arm

I noticed the other day that my bolt was missing. i don't know how to strip it down to check if I lost the whole assembly or not ( I assume that I did ) so was wondering how big a project this may be for a complete beginner to repairs. Is it too much for a newb to handle? Any tips for me? I do notice that from the rear of the bike i do have the nut on the left side of the swing arm.

the bolt or the nut? If the bolt was missing you wouldn't be able to ride it!

Y'couldn't lose the swing arm pivot bolt. Well, you COULD, but the rear wheel would fall off (along with the swing arm!)

EDIT: I did have one snap once, made the handling interesting. Not actually unrideable, took quite a long time to figure it out.

Well the bolt that goes through just above the foot pegs is missing. Where the swing arm meets the frame. I can see all the way through it. Nothing filling in the hole. I rode it not long ago and didn't notice much difference at all. I haven't taken anything apart for fear I wouldn't be able to put it back to gether again, but I do think it is the pivot bolt. Would the only thing holding it together be the rear shock? Yikes!

You do realise that the swingarm bolt is hollow? Has a hole all the way through? Also you realise that your swingaem bolt cant be removed without removing the rear brake pedal also don't you? Are you sure it's missing? Only the left side has a nut on it BTW the other end fits into a special shaped hole to stop it turning when doing up the nut. If it was missing all together you would not be able to ride the bike and you would definately know something was wrong. Got a photo?

Below is a link to a parts diagram.
Go to parts diagrams then to swingarm....
    Hope this helps
    Andy.

    Arrow lol

looks like xtc summed it up quite nicely. I also get the impression that there is nothing missing at all. Just someone who was not expecting what he saw and assumed something was wrong.
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.
