Seems that site is about stopping people from riding.

Yup a timely reminder to all of us about our hobby. It is dangerous and we risk ending up like these unfortunate people. The best we can do is continue to be proactive in reducing our risk. In other words be carefull..!
Not entirely convinced about the method that this thread was posted after I got red repped today, by the site administrators I guess, for starting a thread about a Kiwi road accident in this forum.

that website is gay, i mean sure it shows lots of m/cycle accidents but all the pictures are small as and you cant see quite what happend in each particular accident (other than that a bike/rider gets badly fucked up).... got sick of seeing that guy getting taken out by some fuck in a 4x4.

the website is obviously american, so you have to remember that a learner licence over their means you can get any bike... kinda think they would've changed that by now.

Either way it shows you the gory side of biking, and illustrates that skin does not like pavemnent.

You hit anything solid like a car at speed and no matter what your encased in you are going to be screwed. Our bodies ar not capable of taking G forces that high. Lets be careful of saying Oh its only the yanks and they are not as smart as us or thier rules arn't as good. That translates to "it cant happen to me" in my view. Look at the images and have a think, thats all they are trying to provoke. The rest is up to ourselves..

Notice how none of the pictures are from a race track......

Nether the less. I think that a little warning would be good.

I dont care how many people are killed on bikes, i will never stop riding.

Sadly, seen this shit too much to slow me down. Most of those pics there are from people fucking up badly - putting themselves in risky situations and or inexperience (aka that car should'nt pull out infront of me.. right?) etc. When you ride fast on the road you have to ride to well within your limits and leave a decent % of 'error recovery' and judge things VERY carefully.
Noticed a few of them are from bikes running wide, mainly sports bikes it seems.

I do think that webmaster is a bit biased, but hey - all hail cotton wool amerika. (In saying that he did show emails which contradict him as such).

If I have to go out in life on a bike, at least I know i'll be having the most fun I can possibly have, enjoying something I love to do. Good quote for a funeral eh.

That graph is the ratio of mcycle fatalities versus cage fatalities, so what we're really looking at is probably a combination of:

Increase in cage safety, (crumple zones, airbags..when did seatbelts become compulsory in the US?)
The related increase in cagers feeling invulnerable and therefore driving like fuckwits
Petrol prices starting to drive more people back onto two wheels
Increase in HP as you say

You can prove anything you like with statistics....

I agree with most of the views here. As a "returning biker" my GSX-F has twice the power of my old T500, but also is lightyears ahead in handling and braking! The new bikes are better again! Gave myself a couple warning frights due to the power and have become very careful with the throttle hand. I've always ridden as though I'm invisible to other drivers and that has saved my bacon on many occasions! When I joined KB i spent a lot of time browsing the Images and posted a thread about the gory accident scenes some time ago which drew a lot of comment similar to this one. The pics don't put me off riding, but I am very aware that falling off is gonna likely hurt a lot, so I try to avoid that and I don't take silly risks as I've seen too many bikers do! Live to ride, ride to live is a good motto. Also I wont go anywhere without the full gear on! Call me a Nanna, but I do have fun and enjoy myself hugely! Love the Coro loop, first time I got the pegs scraping, a good place to learn without having to do high speeds!

Those pics are meant to scare people from bikes and I don't agree with it. You are in danger from the moment you are born and you could be killed by any manner of things. Pity those guys happened to get caught out doing things they enjoyed. Riding a motorcycle is an experience, its not a farking death wish.

NM, I remember those pics all too well. I also remember a mate who lost a part of his hand while trying to fix a stoppage on the C9, no doubt that pic is being shown to new recruits as well. But I don't expect it to be off putting.

Well it definately made me sit up and take notice...ewww. I try and be careful on the roads anyway but even more care will be taken after viewing that.

Im quite happy to go hard out on the road and be happy ending my lifetime on the back wheel, yelling at the top of my lungs that I enjoyed the ride.
