Plastic polish for removing scratches/swirl marks.

Hey all,

Can anyone recommend any products that would polish light swirl like scratches from fairings?

The guy that first owned my bike looks like he may have used a dusty cloth and just wiped the dirt around on the bike instead of actually washing it properly with a soft clean cloth.

I'm not sure if a cutting compound would work as I don't think it works on plastic only painted metal parts and will probably make it worse.

Can't remember what the product was called but someone mentioned that there might be something in the "Mothers" cleaning product range??

Can anyone help?

Try Mothers Plastic Polish , it should do the trick, awesome stuff for plastic's of all types.

What colours have you used it on?

Just a bit cautious of using something especially on black as it shows up everything.

Hey Lou, do you know of any places that stock the Meguiars range? I see that there products are sort of more car specific but so are the Mothers range.

Might go for some of that swirl remover and just try it on a small area and see how it goes.

Meguiars Scratch X is what you want. You don't want to polish plastic, you want to remove swirls from paint. Plastic polish may work, but Scratch X is specifically designed to do the job you describe. I use it on my bikes n cars, it's like cut n polish, except for modern paints (so nowhere near as hardcore). My 2c worth

supercheap, repco, even kmart and the warehouse stock it im sure

Yeah, and automotive paint supply shop, more than likely Repco, maybe KMart, can't say I've ever seen it at The Warehouse. It's good shit though... you should clean all the fairings, polish them all with it (will bring the entire fairing up like new), clean it again, polish with a good wax and glaze. Job done It's a very light abrasive, designed for modern clear cloat paints.

Plexus is your daddy... worth every penny for keeping screens and visors clean n shiney. Works a treat on your fairings too, but only after you've properly cleaned and waxed em (ok, that's a lie, it works great on dirty ones too, but it won't take your swirls away like Scratch X)

I've tried it and still can not get the swirls out. Any tips?
