    Did anyone ride today?

Ulysses run to Coromandel today but instead I spent the morning painting the bathroom, with the sun streaming in the window. Great day for a ride, I kept thinking to myself. After lunch despite the ominous black clouds that had appeared I put my gear on and headed out the door just as the first drops fell. Thought it would be just a passing shower but ten minutes later I gave up and headed home. Tried again around 3:30. Managed 20 minutes before it started p*ssing down again. This time cold and windy as well. Back home again. Now as I sit typing this at 5 p.m. the sun is shining again.
Did anyone from Akl manage to get in any decent riding today?

    did anyone ride today?

Glad I'm not alone there- the wife and I debated for some time as to whether we should go for a ride, in the end we canned it as the weather is just crap.
The frustrating this is there is soo much sunshine around - followed directly by rain 10 minutes later...ggrrrrr..
Lets hope for better weather tomorrow - if not will be doing a bit of this>>
If I were you...............then who would be me???

I didn't but my father in law sure did.
The guy rode a lot during the seventys but chucked it in for the reasons they do.I gave him the XS for a day a few months ago and he's been muttering about bikes an sutch ever since.
Any way he vanishes early this morning and then we get a phone call this avo' an he's been out an bought him self an 800 Suzuki cruiser of some sort.
The ma' in law is speachless for once.

Bloody brilliant!! You can now say with pride that you were a bad influence on the father in-law!

    Cool Driving Creek run

Sunday- did the Ulysses run to the Driving Creek Railway , just past Coromandel. Excellent riding weather. NO RAIN , bit cloudy , & sunshine at Coromandel. The railway.. well worth a visit. The road up the coast was good. A Bit of traffic but soon got passed it. All the gravel patches have disappeared. A good day out.

    Two rides today!!

Mrs H and I went over the hill on the "big" bikes this morning for a quick sortie around the Wairarapa. Nearly got slaughtered twice on the east-west lake road... It took a while to get the taste of adrenalin out of my mouth.

The new Metzeler Roadtec Z6s are a different ride after the Battlax 020s. I may well grow to like them -- a lot! The way the front suspension is set up really suits them.

The second ride was to Waikanae and back on the Zeal. Woo hoo!

And then there's the promise of tomorrow's ride...

Meet up with Edge, Old Edge and a half dozen others at Bombay at 10.30 this morn. Feeling slightly out classed and ancient, the combined age of all the other bikes would not have been to much more than mine.

Headed out down to Tuakau, and across to Rangiriri, and then to Paeroa for some lunch at the Lazy Fish. Over to Wangamata, and back via Kopu. Stopped in Maranda for a brown lemonade, sorry for cleaning you out.
Blast up throught the Hunua's and home.

I learnt heaps about how my bike can be pushed, even as I watched them leave me behind. I was holding my own in light courners, and on the straights, but as soon as we hit the twisties or more traffic, experiance, more power and better rubber showed through.

A very light shower or two, and a hole in a radiator, quickly patched, and a cell phone disapearing from a pocket on the Maranda streights were the only things that mared a perfect day out riding.

Now I need to rest my left foot, the toes are complaining about the abuse of two great days of riding.

Yup, I was out on the bike on Sunday too.

Went for a wee ride into the hills East of Hastings with a stop at a pub for a break somewhere in between. For those that know the area, Puketitiri Road is in awesome nick and shitloads of fun with little to no traffic. We went out to Patoka & back again, and most of it is along the tops of the foothills into the ranges.

    And the weather was fabulous!
