My Wake Up Call (binned it)

Here's why you binned. Wrong attitude. You say you were not going to fast. Wrong. You were riding to the edge and when you needed to make a correction for the bump you were going fast too do so. You were lucky a car or bike was not coming the other way. A wake up call is no good unless you learn from it.

Just not too sure you have learnt anything today. Hope my post rings alarms bells in you. Next time you cross the centre line you may not be so lucky.

Jezz dude., If I were you I would be saying I was riding on the edge of my abilities... canning it big time.. had knee down and a minor lose in concentration and I lost the bike under me.

Sounds to me like o fuck moment ie could happend to anyone. These sort of acidents happen to best of us mate dont worry about it too much you got up and that counts big time. But im with cowboys next time (hopefully it will never happen) say something like I was going fucking fast the needle was bouncing on the stop pin! That will shut the twits up.

Speedmedic is right though if you ever get a chance to talk to some hard core racer they will tell you that one gets a bit over confident 10 ft tall bulletproof all that bullshit and it takes a small crashe like you have had to bring you back to reality even though its not realy a big one it does bring you back ask me i have been there

Sorry to hear you binned it. I did a spectacular one about 13 years ago and I still get a bit squirrly about the corner under the Petone flyover in Wellyvegas.

Glad a bruised ego and some minor stuff were all you had to show for it.

Seeing as it was only 5km down the road from where ZeroIndex had his 1st ever unintentional offroad adventure I'd say your head probably wasn't quite back in the ride yet too. Also, there were quite a few off camber corners through there. Maybe you hit bumps combined with bad camber which put you in the grass.

Mine was an intentional offroad adventure, once my mind decided that no matter what i wasn't going round that corner, i decided "i'm going to slow down on that nice grassy patch... the only thing i didn't expect was a huge f**king pavement-like section of lifted grass and sand

I rip it all to bits lastnight. the ferrings are in the car at the mo
and the bike is out at T.A Luo is going to sort out the little frame that the blade bolts onto. He is also going to check the front end out but he said it seems fine. I asked him to look at some other little things that were playing up befor i binned. should be finished tomorrow

Dude, sounds to me like you had never had to test your ability to handle things AFTER they had gone pear-shaped. A wake-up call is exactly right. Don't stress about it tho. Unless you are veeery lucky, the ability to handle oh-shit moments can only be learned the way you have. Most of us have had them, some have binned and some have managed to keep it together - sometimes is only luck. Glad it wasn't more serious for you.

It appears that you have responded in a manner that belies any intelligence on your part. This is what I responded too.

When we came to a bit of a tight right hander slight downhill.
I was not going to fast at alL maybe about 45 to 50k's hit a little bit of a dip or bump in the road witch put me off abit and put me off line and I ran wide on the corner. As soon as the wheels hit the grass the bike was go right out from under me. landed on my right knee and hip did the head over heels trick and landed on my ass. Got up and yelled the F word about 10 times then picked the bike up.

You were into a tight right hand corner and you went wide. You said you lost your line. Perhaps I should have explained better I'll do it now. YOU ARE IN THE CENTRE AND WHEN YOU LOST YOUR LINE YOU CROSSED IT.

Your response indicates that nothing has been learnt from your 'bin.'

I will give you some serious advice this from someone who has been riding all their life.

NEVER THINK YOU ARE AN OK RIDER. Those that 'did' are dead or crippled.


Now you have a choice with your riding. You can listen to people who will give you sympathy and nothing else or listen to people who, if you take their advice just might help to become a better rider and keep you alive. Your choice.
