Yungatart & I stopped to catch up with an old friend in Clive who was tragically widowed 18 months ago. The upshot of this was her husband had bikes as a young(er) man but gave them up when he had a bad off. He had always thought that 'One day....etc' but he never got there.
Anyway, the 15yo daughter said to me "If Mum says it's OK, will you take me for a spin so I can see what Dad was on about?" "Sure" says I. Mum said "Off you go and enjoy". Kitted her out with Yungatart's gear, tell her to make like a sack of spuds and smack me on the back if too scary, and also that if she is OK after a bit that I'll show her a little of the GSXR's power. Off we go (sedately) and gradually build it up thru a series of corners and straights, she's loving it, then a quick check that she is happy to fang it a bit and Vvvrrroooommmm, couple hundred metres we're doing something insane with the front wheel light-as!!! Button off and quietly home.
The look on that young lass's face was worth a million bucks. She could not stop the grin. Now she wants a boyfriend with a bike or to get one of her own. The younger syblings only got a taste around the driveway since they didn't fit the gear, but they were happy too.
It is a great feeling to show others what 'it' is all about.
