I was looking at the Super Duke as a first choice but alas the price tag was a little too steep. Second on the list was gonna be the Speed triple, price also unatainable so the kwaka it is!Originally Posted by CaN

The Super Duke was too damn ugly for me, and that is saying something.
I rode the Speed Triple and loved it, one of those bikes you sit on and within a couple of feet you know you want it.
How does it compare to the Hornet? I guess it has more power at the top of the rev range and a bit less torque down low? What about the handling etc.
Nice bike man........ Love the look of them. (except the pipes) But that can be changed
Lump lingered last in line for brains,
And the ones she got were sort of rotten and insane...

How does what compare to the Hornet?
The Speed Triple really is a in a different class. The suspension is better sorted, the brakes are better it feels like it has more power on tap, the build, ergos and style are superior. They come with excellent tyres and braided lines for example, hence they are about $10,000.00 more.
The only Hornet I rode was the last of the ones before they had adjustable front suspension and it really did not come close to the Speed Triple. That said the triple probably comes set up for europeans and the Honda for asians.
That said the Hornet wins on value for money and does allow you to add to and alter easier if you are on budget, which most of are.
The Hornet would (at least for my weight) benefit greatly from a bit of money spent on suspension.
Nice one V!
Enjoy your time off! Hope you get some gd riding weather to get the run-in outta the way..

Vagabond used to have a Hornet, so I was wanting to get his feedback on the differences between the CB900 and the Z1000. Thanks for the info on the Speed Triple CaN
The triple aint much of a looker either! but who cares what a tool looks like! not like you can see it while you are using it, hence ever seen my bike?Originally Posted by CaN
That twin underseat pipe conversion looks damn nice. The original pipe looks more like a grenade launcher than exhaust pipe.

Congrats on the new bike..Enjoy
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

It's been like well over a year since I rode the Hornet, but first impressions are that the z thou is a hell of a lot more powerfull and a gas guzzler, something like 180km/18l.Originally Posted by sparrow_34
It's suspension is also advanced although the Hornet I had was not adjustable in front. But hey all I want at the mo is to have fun whilst riding and the thou certainly has that fun factor built in, just hope that the front wheel doesn't lift at the wrong time and place![]()
All in all I'd say if your'e looking for practicality then the Hornet beats it hands down, but if you wanna play around a bit then the zee is up for it!
