Yes it is a maintenence issue. Fresh fork and shock oil makes a world of difference. I suggest that unless you know your way around USD Kayaba MX forks that you get the shop to do them. Really the only way to get all the crud/filings/gunk out of them is to strip them completely. Shock will need to be done by a shop also as they need to be charged with nitrogen.

guess i should take it in to the shop but then i will never learn how to do it. i cant see the difficulty in doing it ones self with a bit of help. guess i should get a manual for the bike and see if it look to difficult.

At the very least take the bare legs in, saves you money. If upside down cartridge forks then they should be stripped & the shims cleaned out else the crud will keep the valving open. Crud comes from springs to damper wear.

If it was an old KX with right way uppies I’d say dive right in, but cartridge forks get a bit involved. Best to replace the seals at the same time using genuine ones as it would be a swine to have to do the job twice.

i just changed the oil seels on my fork and it was easy as. if u have any common sense and are mechanical inclide it should be easy to do, and a lot cheaper than sending it to a shop. just made sure u do one at a time ( if u make a mistake u can check how it is suposed to be) and be carefule to see where stuff goes as u take it apart.

u can always take it to the shop it u cock it up and they should put it right.
