When the new card/photo type NZ drivers licence came into effect mine was good for 5 years, as will be the case for many others. By chance I checked it the other day and the darn thing had expired 3 months ago!! So last Thursday I whipped into the local AA shop and applied for a renewal which cost $44 and meant that I had to do the eyesight test again, write out my signature, and have another mugshot taken. They issued me with a temporary paper licence and said the new one would be delivered in approximately 3 weeks, but it arrived in the mail today just 4 working days later, good eh!
So check your expiry date on your licence before you find out the hard way!
Btw, the new licence is good for 10 years this time. :spudguita
