Rossi Challenges Alonso to a Duel!!!

    Read this via www.onewheeldrive.net:

MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi has challenged Formula One champion Fernando Alonso to a high-speed duel to see who is quickest.

The 24-year-old Renault driver said last month he was unimpressed by Rossi's Formula One tests for Ferrari and felt it would be very hard for him to switch from two wheels to four.

"He might finish fifth or even get on the podium some time but I could do the same on the bikes if I was given enough time to practise," the Spaniard told a news conference.

The words appeared to have stung Rossi, who was quoted by British weekly Motorcycle News as saying he wanted to put Alonso to the test.

"I read that if Alonso is able to make some practice then he can put a MotoGP bike on the podium with me," said the 27-year-old Italian.

"Well, I think we should drive a Formula One car, a World Rally car and a MotoGP bike, add the times together and then we will see who is the fastest."

Rossi, winner in motorcycling's top category for the past five years, has tested repeatedly for Ferrari including a session in February with other drivers.

The charismatic Italian has also competed in rallies and Ferrari's seven times world champion Michael Schumacher has said Italy's highest-paid sportsman has the talent to make the switch to Formula One.

Alonso won Formula One's season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix at the weekend.

Sounds like it'd be fun to watch.
With Rossi's times on the Bike being way quicker than what Alonso will do, plus the fact Rossi is reasonably quick in the F1 car. I can only see Rossi winning.
There's no way Alonso can match a decent pace (similar to Rossi's F1 pace) on the Motogp bike.
Only problem will be insurances, Alonso's team will not let him ride a Motogp bike......

Haven't any of you guys watched "Faster"?

Rossi may have troubles with the rally car ...
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    Alonso will never do it....

Better to be thought a fool than to be proven one, I think about sums it up...

Then again, his pride might make him prove he's a fool....

No, I haven't. But I know Rossi loves rallying, and has spent quite some tme behind the wheel of rally cars. His dad was also a rally driver.
I'd put my money on him before Alonso.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

That was a one-off. Im sure Alonso has pranged a few cars in his time.
Rossi has done pretty well in the Michelin Race of Champions http://www.raceofchampions.com/ and got into the finals in 2000 driving 4 wheelers of some sort.
    The duel will never happen

HAHA yeah right as if that dude with the forumular one will do any good on a bike, it takes years to get good on a bike, I wouldn't like to ride one of those motoGP bikes too fast for me.

If you can ride a bike fast you could probably drive a car fast, although I think one of those F1 cars would be a bit fast for me too, but more forgiving.
