He beat Colin in a car or on a bike? Apprently Macrae is a fantastic rider, and was basically given the choice. He choose rally instead. Possibly because of the longer average life span..

yeap. while those F1 cars are quick, they have ALOT of stuff in them to make them alot easier to drive fast than a bike has to allow you to ride that fast.

a bike doesn't have traction control, an automated gearbox, launch control, blah blah blah.

from my point of view, if i were to ride a bike or drive an F1 car - i personally would back myself to get closer to Alonso's times in the car than Rossi's times on the bike.

Remember when Niki Lauda essentially "Anybody can drive an F1 car these days! All computers and shit!"

So someone let him have a go in a recent car.

He spun it, I think on the first corner.

all i can say is, I hope Rossi is sporting enough to give Aloseo a couple of minutes head start so there is some competion at least.

    .
    MotoGP bikes do.

Buy Aprils Cycle World when it comes out: Randy Mamola (still quick, and second best in the world a number of times) tests all the GP bikes.

As Niki proved,F1 cars aren't that easy to drive.

Rossi is showing something we haven't seen in a long, long time - multi talented. There are few pinacles left to climb - only one man has won a World Chamionship in a vehicle bearing his own name...Jack Brabham,no one has won a motorcycle championship on a bike bearing their own name.Only one man has won both 2 and 4 wheel Championships...all Rossi can do is equal Surtees. But maybe get more championships in each.?

Alonso is a non starter in this challenge.

Dumb question, how does a bike with traction control rear wheel steer?

i would guess if the rear wheel was spinning faster than the front?

would be the only way to work it out???

but then how do they do mono's?

    news to me.

The traction control isn't there to completely kill wheel spin, just limit it. Still traction control.

I reckon that the 10 fastest KB riders would crush Alonso on a bike by a larger time than he would beat them by in car, yet alone what Rossi would do to him!

Traction control, wheelie control, launch control. Electronic back torque limiter.
They aren't bikes as we know them.

They all sound like heavy systems to have on a bike. Cant believe it would be worth it.

They already have fly-by-wire throttle, so there is a computer, it already knows the speed on the wheels. Adding a bit more computing power wouldn't take much. The small increase in battery output (I assume they run total loss ignition) would be small as well.
