    DIY bike stuff

happened to meet slickD in the local Honda shop yesterday; he was after some 'crash bungs' and got quoted $195!

I remember reading this tip back in the UK, tho't I'd share it:

get a plastic/hard rubber type mallett
    cut handle off, like so
when you've got the "head" off, cut that in half (width wise)
drill a hole down yonder center wide enough for the bolt.
drill another hole down yonder center wide enough for the bolt's head/washers
grab some heavy duty bolts long enough to go thru the rubber/plastic and into yer frame...
(some may need spacers of some sort between frame & bung)

but, from what i remember, it did work.

Think i'll be doing this before the KB trackday...

Bring on other tips you lot got!

If something on your bike isn't quite right, have a go at fixing it yourself before paying someone else to do it

When I first saw crash bungs, that is what I thought they were.

You could put in a nice set of ABE5 bearings so they spin up nice too.

If you are near auckland.Go to Ludowici plastics at 12 Henderson place onehunga.
Fish through the offcuts bin for some round section plastic of your choice.
    Nylon, teflon,UHMWPE,Urethane,whatever.

AKA frame sliders, crash knobs, etc. They Stop the bike from completely munching itself, and grinding the frame away in the highly likely event of an off! Yay!!! (but you only get decent kudos if you buy the label ones!! mmm oggi knobs...
