What is it with some cages??

This might be the great unanswerable question, but in my limited time riding on 2 wheels - I have really noticed some stupid things cage drivers do!

1. Foggy morning (this morning in fact) - mid-to-late 30's chick driving along southern motorway into town - mirror bent back at herself - makeup being applied, whilst adjusting volume on stereo - and doing about 40KM/h in HEAVY traffic! God knows what she was steering with!

2. Same foggy morning - 20-something woman - texting whilst barrelling along at 80Km/h approaching Sth-eastern aterial onramp - next thing she looks up and slams on anchors, nearly causing a 3 car nose-to-tail behind her

3. This afternoon - heading down Sthrn MW after collecting my VTR250 from her virginal service (running BEAUTIFULLY i might add ) - look in mirror, see 4WD weaving in his lane (only just) - he goes past (after I adjust my lane line to keep away from him laterally - cellphone held to ear by right collarbone, adjusting stereo, looking at stereo panel - steering with knees

4. 2 K's after that - see bloke adjusting his hair in WING MIRROR - fuck - go figure!

All this in the space of 48 mins driving (there and back) today

Being on 2 Wheels do some great things for observation powers - maybe some of our fellow road occupants could learn the same... the ever-so-small pessimistic side of me says "Nahhh"

Rant over - feel much better now - got a good ride ahead tomorrow out to Kaiaua for lunch, then the loop back around Happy Valley/Paparata me thinks

Now you are starting to appreciate the reasons that a lot of motorcyclists believe that learning to ride a bike should be a prerequisite to gaining a cage licence.

What is it with some Cagers? Easy answer - some people are complete morons and shouldn't be in charge of a TV remote, let alone a moving lump of iron. Problem for us is that we may not know which are the complete morons and which are the partial morons

Tip here for new riders.

If you are tootling up to ward an intersection , and you see a cage waiting there on your right, wanting to turn right into your road , and there is an old person in the passenger seat (especially an old woman ) BE AFRAID. BE VERY AFRAID.

Because that old woman is relaying oncoming traffic (ie YOU) to the driver (usually it is an old man and an old woman. But sometimes two old women, which is worse).

AND SHE WILL NOT SEE YOU . EVER. NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO.

And the driver is not looking to the left.

"Oh, no, no yet dear, theres a car coming. Oh and now there's a big truck - ohh wait, dear, there's another car. OK after the white car you can go" [BANG] Oh where did that motorcycle come from , I never saw him, he must have been speeding.

Old people do not see motorcycles. No matter what.

LOL,one of the best I've seen,not the worst just funny at the time was all.
I see this car drifting from one side of the lane to the other,so get closer for a better look.It's an old guy eating a meat pie an it must of been a real mission because he wasn't doing a very good job of it,and he's got no teeth .I pull out to the fast lane to put a lane between us but keep an eye on him.Eventualy he drifts out of his lane and hits the car next to him.It looked like he then dropped the pie in supprise because he suddenly got both hands on the wheel an took off up the penrose off ramp,in the mean time the car he hit locks up all four wheels and dives to the side of the road but goes past the off ramp.Buggered if I know what the out come was but I bet the old shit got away with it.
Wonder if he ever found his teeth?

had a courteous driver yesterday, for once. sitting at lights....3 or 4 phases go without my light going green [damn pads!!] eventually a car comes up behind me, big 4wd thingy. thing is, she stops about a meter behind me....i inch up just a bit, and then a bit more, trying to urge her to follow [she must have been behind the pad as more phases went without us.] finally put the bike in neutral, turned around and gestured for her to move up...she finally saw me and did so. the minute she did, the light went green.

i was fully impressed by the amount of room she gave me, allowing for my l plate and newbie fuckups. to boot she was a young girl, not much older than me and quite attractive. damn!! dont get them every day. would have run the red, but there was too much traffic [near the end of school time] so was safer to wait for a heavier vehicle to back me up.
