What are some of the stupid things people have done to or on their bikes?
I just finished cleaning and polishing my bike till it shone, rode it into the garage, spent a couple of minutes adjusting the clock for the new time and then lept off. Stupid tart hadn't put the side stand down and placed bike nicely on garage floor.:slap: Yeah, dumb!
So fess up, who else has done stupid shit like that, or worse..........?

Awww mate. Sucks aye? Haven't done it with my latest bike but did it once when I was younger and it's pretty upsetting watching your pride and joy bounce of the concrete floor.

Yeah, it's fine, nothing I couldn't adjust, sand and touch up myself. Mostly hurt my ass muscles picking it back up off the floor on my own , normally do stupid shit like that when there are a bunch of men around so I can do the "I'm just a chic, help me" routine. LOL. Just goes to show the weights have been paying off.

Well I was going to make a smartarsed comment about having a clock in the first place until I realised how many times I've caught myself riding with no hands fumbling with the sleeve of my leather jacket trying to get a glimpse of the time before I hit the car which has just stopped in front of me. Actually having a clock on the dash isn't such a silly idea after all.

Came extremely close to having mine smash onto the floor after moving it. Leant it onto its imaginary stand, and suddenly realised it was coming after me.

Grabbed it, and stopped it as something just touched the ground (I think the peg). Then lifted it up again... dunno how... but I now love adrenalin

once i forgot to pull the old gn towards me when dismounting, bitch fell on the left side. ive since learned to put the kickstand down and then get off! that was a semi crowded parking lot, managed to get her stood up fast and rode with no brake for a few hours. taught me to use my right foot to brake and my left to support the weight when stopped.

second was the new bike....neutral light on the dash had blown so she was in gear when i got off and she lept forwards, stalled and dropped. kickstand was down, but the jerking forwards naturally retracted the stand. luckily i was still right next to her, but half pinned under. finally got her stood up with nothing hurt but my muscles. lost a bit of petrol [choke was out] and a minute scuff on the rubber on the footpeg.

Not yet but always worry that one day I will forget to put side stand down when I use the rear paddock stand.......that would be messy.

I know a guy who, when he was a newbie, stopped at a traffic light and forgot to put his feet down. Can you get training wheels for a motorbike?

Ive done a LOT of stupid shit (youd think I would have learnt...) but the most recent one was my SV650: pulled up outside work and kicked the sidestand down with my foot. Didnt look at it, swung my leg off the bike, pulled the key and took two steps to see the bike going gracefully over on to its side. grrrrr.

new handlebars, new clutch lever, gark in the fairing, slightly bent gearlever etc. not to mention feeling like a complete muppet.

the stand had gone down, but not over centre, so it was balanced and when that butterfly flapped its wings in Argentina, the thing rolled off the stand..

still makes me feel stupid.....

Do what a lot of others do: get an 'el cheapo' watch with large figures (digital not so good for this) take off straps and use some silicone sealer or hot glue gun to fix it on top of steering head.

Hot glue not the best as I lost one such 'clock' somewhere near Arthurs Pass on a hot day when the glue softened - broke my Scots heart to see $2 worth of watch tumble down the road and vanish into the scrub....

My bike, as Skelstar will know, has a clock in the dash readings, can flick between two trip meters, total kms and a clock. Bloody handy!! Hubby has a little digital job velcroed to the bike, just under the dash, also really handy. Maybe it's an omen that I shouldn't polish my bike!

Disc lock caused me some anxious seconds once, rev up, pull away...bike dives...grab in time...struggle with falling weight. Not nice! Managed not to wreck disc either. Memo to self- use disc lock reminder!!!
