    awesome ride

Went down to Palmerston North for a wedding with the wife and kids. No sooner I meet the grooms father for the first time and start talking bikes, he hands me the keys to his spanking new Bandit. He jumps on his Sons 250 and we blasted off on an incredible ride round the back of the wind farm at Ashurst. Theve got some stunning scenery round those parts. roads were great as well considering he took me well off the beaten track. Wife was spewing when I got back(forgot to tell her I was off for a ride) but it was well worth it. Must say the Bandit was nice to ride. Couldnt believe how soft the seat was though, My rf is like sitting on a concrete block compared to the bandit. Any way ,to all those bikers who live down near palmy all I can say is YOU LUCKY BASTARDS Cheers Motelbob

hell yeah. you know that Palmytown wouldn't be the suicide capital if more people rode bikes. We are in Ashhurst. Saddle road at my doorstep, manawatu gorge is right there (although difficult to make it through there traffic free) Pohangina valley (which is probably where you went) right there, great roads and scenery right there and then the pihatua track is fun too. What more could you ask for?? I love riding round here..

Pleased to hear you had a chance to check it out.. Bloody lucky really.

So why the hell did we follow gravel rash out the back of wanganui and end up on probably one of the only gravel roads for miles :slap:
maybe we should have just done the saddle road george circut a few dozen times
Hey maybe John Cleese should have cruised round here on a bike before slagging us off and saying were living in a boring place

    I agree!

That is the area of my early years. There are some fantastic roads around there and now that they are sealed some of them are sprot bike heaven!
My brother and I had a little cruise around there earlier this year (in a cage damn it) just for old times sake.
Never saw any bikes at all, seemed to us like they might be under appreciated bike roads! Cheers John.
