Dooo tell Dangerous - esp the bloody bits
Right about this was started by somebody bagging other riders. It's so holier than thou to spout on about overtaking on the lefthand lane etc. I certainly don't think twice at taking any lane and picking my way through the motorway. That's why I have a bike. Left lane is often the emptiest anyway. As a fellow rider, he could cut a little slack for a group of riders having a bit of fun and enjoying the "pack" event. You could even show a little patience. Not slag them all off as dorks. Get a life! There is a rebel element in biking that attracts us to it.Originally Posted by Jackrat

To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?

Thanks.......
I'm afraid I can't show patience for a bunch of people pretending to be rebels and riding like wankers on a busy motorwayOriginally Posted by johno
. They were just asking to get clobbered by a car.
If they had displayed a little patience to a fellow road-user I wouldn't have felt the need to moan and groan about them on this site
As I said if the road is clear, go nuts.. but jeez, time and place eh.
Except for your "Gulp" comment a while ago huh.Originally Posted by Jackrat

The bolt now has two locking nut's on it.
I never did have a torque rod come undone, but back in the seventies when I had a Suzuki with a rod operated drum brake I did suffer the old "flipped over cam" when the shoes got too worn. Now that was a problem forcing the thing back so I could ride it without the brakes jammed on to get home.

Did they have 2 cent pieces back then Merv? that was a common trick, pop one either side of the cam, kept you going until you remembered your brakes were worn out.

Don't confuse education with intelligence.
There are alot of highly educated idiots out there.
Yep we'd graduated from threepences and sixpences by the time I got a bike and if I still had any pennies or halfpennies left they would have been too big.Originally Posted by Motu
That incident I was talking about I'd ridden up the Bridal Path from the Heathcote side and was on the way down and put my foot on the brake and it hit the floor so to speak. Had to get off the bike and pull the damn rod back and go easy on it to get home.
Anyway it wasn't quite like the experiences being talked about on the "First annual dork run".

First Annual Dork Run?
I'm very sure it's not the first. I'll bet it wasnt long after the very first motorised cycle contraption that some dork had his hands on it.
A few months ago I think it was the North & South mag had an article about the problem bikers (young kids on highpowered machines) hooning around queen st AK. in the early 60s and compared it to todays boy racers :eyepoke: it seems that there is always an element in society who want to enjoy themselves, but find others are not so accomadating.
Wouldn't it be great to see heaps more bikes on the road like in the days gone by.![]()
