yeah the valentine is good but needs extra bits to hook up an ear piece

X50's come with an earphone jack and are popular amongst the speeders on here, mine went well till it went for a swim

Escort X50 is among the top group of detectors, and you can either use an earpiece or build a screamer. See http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...light=screamer

A little LED light that sits in your helmet that flashes in your vision when your radar picks something up, no wires just sits in the helmet and runs off batteries, has a sender unit on the bike you plug in to the radar

Ask Dangerous about how it works - and about how he got a ticket despite having a h.a.r.d. system..

Beltronices RX65 is the best at the moment, valentine 1 is definately over rated in my view very lacking in features and way over priced, I use a RX65 and Im astonished with its abilities, cost me $425 of Trade me. Radar Roy gave it 5 stars out of 5, check it out.
Ive run out of fucks to give

Yeah right Spud, Finn and I had our eyes peeled on Sunday, but the detectors 'saw' the cop before we did. Another $120 odd tax dollars saved.

BTW V1 doesn't have an earphone jack, but the optional audio adapter does.

At the risk of teaching you how to suck eggs, don't believe that a good radar detector will solve your ticket problems. They detect radar (or laser). That's all they do. They don't detect cops who don't have their radars/lasers on (including any mufti's that you might pass on a backroad at a billion and a half miles an hour) Likewise they won't give you any warning before the cop 400m down the road whacks you with instant on radar or a laser gun.

In short, a radar detector will lessen the risk of you getting caught, but don't believe it's the be all and end all. It's merely one weapon in the armoury. The others are eyes for avoiding and a heavy right wrist for evading. Scanners help too. Jammers are another goodie too if you know the right people.

As far as detectors go, I've got a V1. I use it in the car (that I barely speed in anyway). Don't bother on the bike. It works well, but it wouldn't be my first choice if I was buying another one.
