B..... hopeless wing mirrors!

Hi, I'm fedup with my standard VRT1000F mirrors. They are positioned so you do not have a clear and unobstructed view behind. Just need to sit out another 3 or 4 cms to work better. Do any other Firestorm riders have a easy and cheap solution for this problem?

You could try a different brand of bike. I thought my 636 mirrors sucked, but then I tried a K5 gixxer thou... man, my 636 feels like it has truck mirrors now.

Fatjim has a vtr and XXXXXXXXXXXXL shoulders. I believe he rides oblivious to what's behind, although I could be mistaken, maybe he has sorted the mirrors.

The mirrors on the VTR sux, the only thing you can see in them is your elbows, My bike fell over and broke the left side mirror went to get a replacement mirror $150 odd bucks + gst, not paying that for something that don't realy work, but can't get any after market ones, so at the moment I am looking for something that I may be able to adapt to fit the bike.

have to tuck the elbows in to see behind as well, think it is just a sprot bike thing

Likewise, I thought the zxr mirrors were bad, then I got the krr. Sure on the zxr I saw mainly my shoulders and a bit behind, but with the krr the only thing I can see is my elbows.

its an age old problem. I solved it on My GPZ900 by making up some spacer blocks to sit under the mirrors.I used 25mmx25mm pine and shaped it so it looked the same shape as the mirror bases. Painted black they looked factory.
I used longer mounting bolts and drilled holes to mount the mirrors

had the same problem with my TL,bought some bar-end mirrors and problem solved.

The mirrors on the RSVR allow you to see past your elbows, but only because they are pointing at the ground. Have even taken the bike back to the shop to get them adjusted, but no joy. I do however, have a very clear and unobstructed view of where my rear tyre meets the tarmac.

If I want to see whats in traffic behind me, I have to adopt the racing crouch over the tank, then the view is fine. Which is funny IMO, that they set it up for that position - dont get me wrong, I know its a "race-replica" but how many MotoGP bikes have mirrors? So why is it only important to be able to see behind you when your in MotoGP mode?

The guy that designed the mirrors should be rounded up with the seat designer and shot.

Have you considered popping a rolling stoppie? You'd be able to see what was just about to run you over then.

my only suggestion is bar end mirrors as well. they are entertaining if lane splitting.

the Ducati Sportclassic has them from stock. perhaps a trade-in?

But but but . . . bar end mirrors look so naff on a sports bike! And then I'd have to swap the indicators out as well. I'm just gonna put up with how crap they are, but that aint going to stop me from complaining about it anyways!!

(I'm half pom by the way, just incase you were wondering)
