Not a good idea as it makes it harder to plastic weld later and can delaminate from the plastic. Plastic welding is not that hard it do and is the best for plastic in the long run.Originally Posted by Timber020

Well the tips RIB gave you about paint is goodOriginally Posted by SpeedDemon
but what i did was strip the fairing right back with P120 and then cleaned them with wax and grease remover. With the really deep scratches i used bog. i then did a few coats of a Primer/Filler, this was followed by sanding (P400) and wax and grease remover. I then did my top coat (several coats at that) Total cost to me is about $150 (the whole fairing) but took quite a few hours work, its looking pretty damn good but no where near as good as with a spray gun or getting a panel and paint shop to do it.......
Hope that gives you and idea![]()
for the paint you need to paint the fairing I'd suggest auto paint marketing -theyre on central park drive in henderson.
Take part of your fairing to them and theyll color match a can to your paint.
I agree with RIB the cheap enamel paint you can buy with give a shite job and finish.
One thing Ya do need to watch for is if a silicone polish has been used on the fairing -No paint will adhere to it. -So clean the fairing section well with prepsol before painting.
If youre gonna do it at home one trick i'd suggest would be to sweep the floor area you're gonna paint in then hose it down so its damp. -keeps the dust down whilst the paint is drying
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
There's a special plastic primer as well to use first on the bare plastic. Then your normal primer (to fill the fine imperfections) before the finishing coats. Have been looking in to this to patch where I have had to Plastic weld the CBR (don't want the same problems I had when I tried patch painting the GSXR).

Definitely.... also a problem are any products that leave a coat, including armorall, grease, oil, teflon polishes, and also the dust that you have left on from sanding it down...Originally Posted by xjxjxj
