    Angry VIN plate gone ...

Had to dismantle the fairing this morning to replace the headlight bulb which blew last night.

And I've noticed - the bloody VIN plate is completely missing!

Just a couple of scratches around the holes where it's been levered off...

how the hell did that happen?

Now I have to file a police report ... take that the VTNZ, and they will file a request for a new VIN plate - which takes bloody ages to come ...

Oh - and apparently - it's not legal to ride the bike without one on... :slap:

    grrrrr
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

hmm --are you sure its the real bike--perhaps someone snuck by in the middle of the night and swapped bikes with you.
But seriously dude--getting a new vin plate aint really a big mission.
front up at a BIKE compliance place with all your paperwork--with chasis numbers on and all will be sweet

    It would appear so...

I'm a bad man. Next thing you know, I'll be speeding.

Unfortunately the VIN number is identical to the chassis number

My bike never came with a vin plate, they just recorded the chassis number. Apparently its perfectly legal.. at least thats what the testing station said. Should be no big deal if all ya numbers match up.

Is it a NZ issued VIN plate,or the manufacrurers VIN plate? Either way the VIN number will be on record, kinda like losing a rego plate, you will just be given a new one....although they will have to fit it for you.Don't want you going home and fitting it to your other bike eh?

Had a good talk to the VTNZ chaps.

Seems its not all doom and gloom. Like Motu says, the VIN plate number is the same as the chassis number so everything is all recorded.

I'll go do the paperwork today.
