    Noise Control

So why is it, Your car get broken into and trashed and you can't get the cops there.

You have a burglary and you can't get the cops there.

Hell my mother's house was being shot at with a rifle and they wouldn't turn up until she went and laid a complaint. She even had to drive through the line of fire to do so.

So you can't get a cop for a burglery, but here's wendy painting the fence and the noise control guy turns up with not 1 but 2 cops to steal her stereo. Go figure.

I mean it's not like she was speeding or something, so why the heavy police presence?

Why weren't those cops out solving real crimes against real people?

Yup agree its an absolute arse the way it happens.
Its the Squeaky wheel that gets oiled and those that are noise sensitive tend to cry louder than those that get burgled..!
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

i herd a story, not sure if it was true or a joke, but the logic is the same either way.
there was a fella and he herd someone in his garden robbing his shed, he called the cops and said someone was ripping him off, the responce from the police was "someone will be there as soon as possible but they are all busy at the moment and no one is able to attend at this time"
the guy hangs up and calls back 2 minutes later and says "don't worry about taking your time to get here i have a rifle pointing at him and he is locked in the shed" 5 minutes later 4 cop cars and 2 armed forces vans show up with the helicopter in the sky. The turn up in time to knick the theif but the old guy who called the cops has no gun, to which the police asked "we thought you had a gun" and he replies " i thought there was no body available to attend at this time"

Mr Cynical eh?? Actually, it is done this way so that everybody can moan at/about the cops.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

In the Rodney District it is a requirement for the Noise Control Officers to have a Police presence when ceasing equipment from an address. This is a law laid out by the Local District Council under the Noise Control Act.

However, in the Rodney District the usual procedure when a noise complaint is received is quite 'friendly'. The NCO is sent out to asess the situation and to make a discretionary judgement. Usually a verbal warning is fine, though the usual practise is to issue an Infrigement Notice.

The Infringement Notice basically forces the person responsible for the noise to abate it and to do so for a 72 hour duration. If further complaints are received after the notice has been issued then the NCO returns and asess the situation. If he deems that you have breached the Infringement Notice then Police are requested and on their arrival whateve ris making the noise will be ceased.

Though, from memory you mentioned that you lived out West. The Waitakere City Council has a Noise Control act that is a lot more harsher than Rodney's. I think this is to allow NCO's to act swiftly when there are parties or large groups of people involved. But from the sounds of it, you got one of the wanker NCO's who failed Police college and abused his minimal powers.

And the reason two police turned up is probably because the local Incident car was two up at the time the job was given. Just a simple fact of they were the only available car to attend and did so.

Police resources are stretched thin, they have a very limited amount of manpower and resources, so jobs are prioritised in a strange fashion.

If your home gets broken into and you arrive back to find it this way. Call the police immediately, mention the above fact and then go on to say that you heard a noise and believe someone may still be in the house.

You'll probably get a few "I" cars, a sergent, a dog unit and possibly a helicopter if they're out working too.

However, the people who will actually process the crime scene wont turn up for some time. If at all.

That's the way to deal with the situation, armed or not, ALWAYS say that you have seen a gun! INSTANT response! "I'm sure I saw a gun officer - oh well, I must have been mistaken then. Glad you came anyway!"

Look on the bright side, at least they are not hiding by the side of the road setting tax traps...

    Um no.
No shit, my mother's house was being shot at with a real rifle and real bullets, by some country lads up for the weekend and staying at the neighbours.

They had nothing to do so got pissed, borrowed the guys gun (he was at work) and started taking shots.

The police would not respond. She moved the grand kids to the other side of the house and went down the Hendersom police station.

They dispatched a car with 2 cops in it. Both of them got beaten up, then it was all on. But it took that to get a serious response.

So don't rely on the gun trick.

You could however say someone was speeding, that orta do it.

Yeah, just ask Texmo about that one.

It was a black bike, with a number 3 on it and no number plate.

Because the soft cock security guards won't enforce a noise abatement notice without the cops there to protect them.
