Public park, if you can walk ya dog he can ride his bike, as long as he's not killing anyone.
And can almost guarantee you only got that reaction because you told him he couldn't do what he was doing, much like someone telling you not to take your dog there...

    Anyway, simmer down you lot.

I recall getting red rep and being called a "PILLICK" because I said let the kids have fun on their mini-bikes riding up the foot path,(foot path and park are similar are they not?) , seems your opinion has changed somewhat...

As for the guy in the park... we've all done it (hell, I still do it) but alot of us do worse on the road

There allways will be at least one person who thinks its well in their right to complain about what your doing. If there was a place in New Plymouth that I could go, when Im not shift working then Id be stoked. But no such luck. As for walking your dog in a public park? How selfish, get out of his way as hes working on a lap record, didnt ya know? You never break the law? Go walk your mutt elsewhere

The stuff you could get away with when I was a kid was no particular big thing, just people have the need to blow it outta proportion these days. Blame the Government? Nope, blame yourselves... If I saw this, Id probably go and get the DRZ and give him a race

It's the typical attitude of people willing to do shit like that. Possibly he had already fallen off earlier, and received brain damage.

I live opposite a big park, there are no houses down one side of the street,it's just the park, and there are signs saying no motorcycles. On a fine day it's nice to see kids out there on mini bikes and quads, and bigger kids on bigger bikes, they blat around a bit fast sometimes, but it's fairly open they avoid people doing other activities ok.But it's always spoiled by some dickhead who takes the complete exhaust off his XR and goes up and down with a huge noise doing wheelies and churning the wetter patches up into mud pools. If everyone just kept it at a nice level I doubt if locals, council or cops would see any problems....but it always takes someone to push the limits of society.

I could go out there and rip it up with them.....but they don't need to know what I have in my shed.

Road? = anywhere a vehicle can be driven with access to a road (beach, farm track where there is no gate etc etc.

And had this guy cleaned up a kid would the rest of you be as supportive?.

Sure, he was having fun but he could have picked a better spot. (Any of you got a spare front lawn?)

No I don't like people misbehaving about kids. We have some boys racers down the road who insist on doing wheelies up and down our road. Mr Plodd apparently has been rung, but so far has done nothing. Went and had a chat with them, hopefully it'll change. But its more important how you come accross and what you say at the time. As for our lawns? I've tried but its not suitable, even for the z50. Might have to move one day to a place more suitable...
Like I said before, I dont know what its like up there. But in NP there is no where I can go on my day off to ride my DRZ or similar. If there was a place for the motorcyclists to go and they was not going there I could understand.

I think if your on a little gutless Pit bike that is fine, you're just playing round and you're not as likely to take someone out, but as for a bigger bike (like an old farm hack) bad news, you're just going to piss people off, get all the rest of us a bad name and look like a fucking bell end when you start abusing people that inform you that this is not the ideal place to ride your POS. Even if you've just fixed your bike up and your testign it, it's not a good idea to rip around for ages in a public area.

It's all about just being a little bit considerate and sensible.

I should have been a bit more specific Selwyn.

I don't like what this guy was doing, really stupid! We are regulars walking Bo on the beach which is a designated dog exercise area and every now and then some nong jumps on a quad, bike, 4WD and has a burn up down the beach. Bloody stupid with over excited dogs running about the place!

However, what I was getting at is every day motorcyclists act like complete idiots on the road and terrorise motorists in an utterly outrageous fashion. Scooter riders as well in urban areas and we think thats OK.

What I was suggesting was to examine your feelings of outrage as you read the original post and think about how other road users must feel at times?

You certianly don't lead by example. Moderate people like you, thats a funny one... Funny how they have places where you can take your dogs, horses whatever, except for bikes. Dunno about your area, but thats the way it is here. Finally, by all means do have an opinion, but dont spit the dummy because you find people who disagree with you. From reading your posts on the matter, I doubt if you was polite to the rider in mention. Maybe that had something to do with the reply you recieved? Yea perhaps the rider should not have been there, but then again, who actually decides who can be and what can happen... Go walk ya dog and calm down as your attitude aint any different. Thats my issue. Feel free to red rep me, I dont actually mind
Jaysus, give the guy a break.

There is a good reason why dogs are catered for and bikes aren't - WE ARE A MINORITY.

What's more we are a minority with more than its fair share of morons with an attitude.

Everytime some idjut goes riding in a public park, people get pissed off. Not pissed off enough to say anything at the time, but pissed off enough to support legislation curbing our activities. Once upon a time we could all go riding in State Forests and on some Conservation Estates, but this is becoming rare. Why do you think this is happening?
