Yeah the white XL looked good, but that snowed covered bike dont loot like no XL and geoffc that I quoted never mentioned XL.

The comstar oragional was last seen on the 81 CX then for 1-2yrs they were reversed and painted black. The CBX 1000 the only CBX to have worn these wheels was last seen in 82 (along with the CB250/400N & CB750/900/1100F with gold comie's and if you want to get fussy the R real fussy the GL) from then on the alloy 6 spokers with round holes in them lead the way, along with Honda's idea of inboard vented discs.

BTW... I was doing a (pt) with geoffc, it is info just of the top of my head.

PS... TWR, its all flooding back now to the old memory, bring it on if you want to corect me, but no cheating (googling)

I have a pic of myself on my CBX 750F (1986) with black comstar wheels. My model came out in 1984 & stopped manufacture in 1987 except for a later version made in Brazil I think. You are likely to be right on those other issues. I was thinking CX 500 not CB 500 X. I have become forgetful with age. Too many meals using aluminium pots.

    BTW I've had a 80 CB900FA and a 87 CBX750 FII

Honda reintroduced that engine internationally as the CB750 Night Hawk in about 1991. I think Japan was still getting them through that period for local comsumption. In fact it was still in production at least up to last time I took any interest in them.

Look closer. They are comstars. The same style that's on my FC2 but black.

    Nearly there. But not quite.
The first type also came out with black plastic covers hiding the rivets.
Second type or "inverted" also came out painted gold.
Third type are comstars, ie riveted "boomerang" style "spokes" riveted to the rims, also had gold and black variants.
The forth type you mention is just a different coloured boomerang style comstar wheel which you can see the rivets on quite clearly btw.

This shows the rivets clearly too-

haha, yeah B ya are showing ya age over me... thank christ :slap:
Just had a closer lookat the CB250T I posted earlyer on and look what I can see... black caps over the rivets.
What bike/s came out with the inverted goldie's (vaigley remember something)
I dident relise that the alloy wheels were called comstars aswell.
My origional post refering to the snow covered CB, having the pressed comstars... not alloy.

They are not solid alloy wheels at all thats why they are called comstars Alloy boomerang spokes either side riveted to sperate rims and bolted to the seperate hubs-ie deffiinated NOT one piece. I guess it's a bit too technical for you to grasp this time of night.

Various CB900Fs and CB750Fs came out with inverted gold comstars. In fact the dohc 750F I just purchased had them but I instisted on the boomerang style. Much easier to clean. Have had all types myself, having owned a CB400T, CX500C and of course my longtermer CB750Fc2.
