Peoples- the new/full track is absolutely incredible!!

Thanks To Rod for organising a fantastic day

Good meet up other like minded enthusiasts and off course always good to catch up with the regular peeps- mono, neil, ewan, peter, mlcrisis, motobob, keystone, vtwinraver, quasi, dss3, loosebruce, death_inc, speedmedic, riff raff, draco, torque, strangeone, roo, devil, jeez- heaps of other KB's I haven't mentioned!

Tony Rees- fantastic pace mate- made it look soooo damn easy.

That boy is quick- yes he make us R1 owners proud!

Rod/ Theresa- thanks for your great hospitality!

Should have pics uploaded sometime next week when I get the CD from my mate Oscar.

Yeah Rodders great day!!!.
I was a sad ass on the way down as it was raining but Wiggles was sure it would be dry......and it was. So I got to use slicks for the first time.
WOW!...

Yep, thanks for a great day Rodders.

This was my first excursion on Motoracers GSXR600 and it was mint! Sudeep has lent me his bike for this track day and to race at Pukekohe next week including getting it all ready for me and everything - thanks heaps Sudeep!

I thought I'd start out in the medium group but the pressure was on to go straight into the fast group, so I nervously moved in with the fast guys.

The first few laps of the day were pretty slow as the track was wet and I'd never ridden the bike before. Once we got to the first session though it dried out and it was time to try and see what the bike and I could do.

Wow! The track is great - so many corners and so many sessions I could hardly walk by the end of the day - really physical getting off the seat both left and right, got my knee down in a couple of places too

!

I did find that I wasn't changing gear much as I'd had a couple of problems with the position of the foot lever initially and with the track being so fast and being a little unsure I just felt it was easier to leave it where it was most of the time. I'll work on this next time! Thanks to Tony Rees for helping me adjust the clutch and foot lever though - that certainly helped. Also thanks to Tony for giving me some pointers and showing me some lines.

Looking forward to Pukekohe next week!

Well done Jill!! I heard you were doing very well and awesome effort on getting your knee down! It's going to be awesome to watch you race this Saturday!

I'm just glad I am able to help you start racing. It's always really cool seeing new people getting into the sport. I hope you'r step will encourage more people to start racing as well. I'm always keen to help out where I can.

When do you reckon you can bring the bike back to base? I'd like to do a few adjustments and checks before your race on Saturday just to make sure everything is 100%. I also want to give it a good clean and make a few appearance changes.

Big Ups rodders, another mint day and well organised, you should be doing it more often mate.

Day started off a bit fucked for me, front forks not doing what they should be doing, serious;y hampered any fast work round the track and totally destroyed a rear tyre in two sessions, thsoe there know how bad it was, i was going to end up crashing if i kept going on it, after consulting Tony Rees and Shaun Harris, cheers both for the input, me and Death decided to get out the "flash"tools and takle out some fork oil out of one of the legs, it seems one was too full and causing the suspension to hydraulic lock, not nice, 20mls oil out and out i went, heaps better, like whoa, only rear tyre was in no condition for anything, but................... my new best firend 2much, had his K3 with a supercorsa on the back, and agreed to let me use his wheel, so swapped them round and off i went again, now on the full cricut, few laps and doh got pull in again, need feul, went out and latched onto the back of Tony Rees, starting using his lines and using him as the extra i needed to turn the throttle a bit more out of the corner's to keep in touch, i stayed with him for a bout 6-7 laps and then he started to turn it up and i was only 2 seconds a lap of his pace at this stage, he pitted in and changed to a good set of slicks (he was testing the new shinko slicks) and he went on to lay down a 1.41, i had to pull in to wait for my brakes to come back to me as i was running too deep into corners and had lost a lot of feeling, i went out again with the intiention of putting in some quick ones, only managed 3 before the day was over, but layed down a 1.45, a shy on 4 seconds off Tony's best, but i know i can go faster, some places i was taking it easy like the S's onto the front straight is very tricky, i came away real happy with the day, and considering Tony was on a full race prep'd R1 and i'm still on my stock K3 road bike with race fairings, i'm real happy, Tony reckons that full race pace will be around 1.39-1.40, so still a bit of work to do, but on the right track for sure.
Am trying to swing the funds to get down to the Honda Riders Club day on the 4th April, hopefully improve more.

And big thanks too 2much you are the man mate, without you i would've had an absolute shit day and sold the bike (maybe) Thanks mate.

Yeh,Great day Rodders !

Tried out some Michelin power race tyres(s/h they'd had a bit of a hard time) Not too shabby in the wet warmup and did well most of the day but were getting a little sad by the time we hit the full, so no real times from me I'm afraid.....plus my busted wrist (doh!) was starting to act up....and common sense finally took over when I nearly threw it away trying to repass Loosebruce when I wedged my foot between the frame and ground so hard I had a big slide.....bugger.
Bloody impressed watching both the loose one and dss3 on basically stock bikes trying to better tony's times, you bastards were flying!
Can't wait for the next one, may even invest in some slicks.....

Yup, yup, primo day, after a bit of a marathon trip me and Bruce finally rolled into Taupo just be 2.00am on Friday morning, by the time we had surfaced and got our shit together pretty much everyone else looked like they had allready arrived and were already getting in a few laps.

New track is pretty sweet alright, especially the new infield part, dont really like the esses onto the old straight though, seemed like a bit of a last minute add on, especially when you just straight line it up the middle of them anyway.

Had a ball on the R1, being pretty much first decent time on the track with it without a banged up body. Was pretty happy with riding overall, managed a 1.46 on the full track, a bit slower than Bruce, you bastard, but yeah, reckon we both could take off another couple of seconds with some practise and a clear track. Still getting the hang of braking points, and was forever braking too late and too early into a couple of the corners and missing apex's, had a couple of little slides, but nothing too major.

Shame the race bike didn't wanna play ball, cheers to Death for helping suss out the fuel / tank issue, took it for another ride yesterday, seems to run fine idleing, but when you ride it and give it some gas it just dies.. grrr.

Everyone seemed to be riding really well improving heaps, and generally having a ball, was cool to notice people getting better and better as the day went by each time you came up on them, especially 'ole Gixerboy, way to go bro!

Two days on and the body still a bit sore! Looking foward to the next one..

Thanks Rodders. What a fun track and what an awesome day. Pass on my thanks to Theresa and Tony Rees as well.

The new short track is a huge improvement over the old part. You sure spend a lot of time leaning the bike over

It was hard having to ride the full circuit at the days end, I didn't get my nana nap in so thats part of the reason.

It was interesting seeing everyone tackling a new new circuit for the first time. No one had the advantage of being there before. Was expecting LB, Death and dss3 to lap me on the short circuit but it never happened. Jeez they are slow pricks

Hopefully they will get the learn tonite from Rossi.

K19 took to the circuit Like a priest to chasing a bunch of school boys. Unfamiliar bike, Unfamiliar track and glued to my butt. She'll probably give me the learn at Puke on the weekend.

Finally it was cool to meet up with some new and old KB faces.

Excelled yourself Rod and thats one cool RG500 you have got as well.

As has already been said - an awesome day out. My first ever track day & I had a blast. Nice to ride knowing nothing was coming in the opposite direction. Cheers to all who made it a great experience, however a big ups to Rod & Theresa - thanks for the superb organisation & putting us up for the night, bloody brilliant. Had a great ride home on Saturday morning - Mangakino - Kihikihi - Whatawhata - SH22 - Home - absolutely shattered.

That was my last outing on the CBR - its now getting cleaned up & put on the market - its been an awesome bike but its time for a small rest while I review my options for a replacement. Pac - the next Tango is on hold till I find my new stead matey, but I thoroughly look forward to it.

Ditto everything. Awesome day. Had a ball and was totally shagged at the end of it.

Love the Triumph more now that I've had the chance to give it a good blat on the track. Just need to learn how to ride it properly

The Metzeler M3's went really well once I'd got the pressures right, not a single slide and hardly look like they've worn!
