Sorry for the rant, but wheres the common sense?

Welcome to the site Omega1 - I didn't realise you were registered!!

I think she simply doesn't realise about how bikes with sidestands work. I'll have a quiet word next time she's on my floor.

Most scooter riders (not all though Debk!!) simply use them for commuting and don't have any "bike" sense.

Let me know if it's a problem again.

    Being frustrated is disagreeable.

yip same thing happens to me at tech. We used to park the bikes on this nice flat paved place under shelter. But the handicapped people with a parking next to where we were complained about us getting to close so what do the dicks at tech do. Give the bikes there own parking, a small triangle ON A HILL. So i have been parked in by other bikes who's owners obviouslry have more money than sense and had to try and manouver at an angle up a hill tilted over to get out. Not to mention the cages that park all around us

Ok so you guys have covered the in town parking thing, but what about when parking while out on a ride or at a rally?
I often find that other riders on biger bikes park to close aswell..... which pisses me a little as you should be able to through your leg over and not hit the bike beside you or tangle the mirrors up once you have stode your bike up and often when this happens theres a hole bloody car park to park in!

The other thing is when parking on dodgy ground like when at a rally and the ground is wet or soft. I make sure when parking up that should my bike fall over as sometimes 'shit happens' then it will fall clear of the bike next to it.

And 'shit does happen' dosent it "Lemans"...... To bring the rest of you to date just after I brought the Guzzi sport a few of us went to a rally down near Queenstown and Lemans Mk4 Guzzi fell on to his Mk3 which fell on to my Guzzi...... no damage was done but to our prides as half the bloody rally saw it happen
    cheers DD

I used to cary a 3" square of 5ml plate (suitably polished) to put down under the stand when on soft surfaces. Absolutely briliant unless it rains then the stand slides accross the plate. I have seem some advertised made out of chequer plate with a loop of metal rod so it can't slide of once in place. I have only seen them in Uk mags but they cant be too hard to make. (if you aint worried about fancy a aluminium coke can has worked on sof soil for my bike )

Just use your glove - works just as well when required. That way you don't need to go hunting through rubbish bins

You can buy side stand pads at certain fine motorcycle establishments.
