The thread started when I posted a photo of myself wheelieing the FXR in a carpark (now my avatar). There's been a bit of to-and-fro-ing about the naughtiness of wheelieing on the road in past threads.

Actually, Spud, you might know... would the trafficos use the 'sustained loss of traction' law to confiscate a bike wheelieing on the road? Given that the front wheel isn't getting much traction, being three or four feet off the ground. Or does it have to be the driving wheels that lose traction? What would the likely charges be? 'Dangerous'? 'Reckless'?

It would have to be the driving wheels that lose traction. Pulling wheelies would fall into the "careless driving" offence category or possibly "dangerous driving" depending on the circumstances.

Careless driving usually results in a summons being issued whereas dangerous will get you arrested.

I can prolly take this one.....Last I knew it is dangerous driving,and yes you can get instant disqualification for 28 days then court and lose yer bike for the same......best just run (not that I'm advising this.....)
On the up side,cheers to the copper that looked the other way when I was doing a standup up the passing lane at Meremere the other day ,there are still some good one's out there

Not quite right. Dangerous driving will only earn you a 28 day disqualification if it relates to speed, (50 kph + above posted speed limit).

Most cops know they have stuff all chance of catching up to bike going the other direction (if its really moving), and its hard to get a rego because they are only on the back of the bike. He probably just radioed to other units to look out for a (whatever coloured bike) heading north / south direction.

Woohoo! Rock on! YEAH! I gotta keep the honour up by doing some for the camera myself now. We'll have all the newbies buying FXRs instead of the 250 4s at this rate 'coz we da kind of G the little homies wanna be like...

Bad boy to not wear a helmet though. Bad Motoracer! Really. I knocked myself out falling off the back of a 4x4 a few weeks back. I can report that concussion and a couple of hours' worth of retrograde amnesia is not much fun, although it did result in some hilarious video footage on the way to the A&E. Also the doctors will forbid you to ride for three weeks. I'm never getting on a bike without a helmet, ever.
