Bit harsh here folks. Lots of people give bikes a name (me, f'instance). And although it's not specifically about bikes, it is in Rant and Rave. Which is appropriate.
Sure, cars get bent every day. But not all of them are being driven by site members.

Sorry to hear of Lucy's misfortune, glad you are unharmed.

Obviously a young lady who was/is thinking about motorcycles gives a fuck and is having second thoughts.Originally Posted by Postie

I have avoided potential crashes on my motorcycle that I reckon Id hve been stuffed in if driving a car by superior braking, using less road space and also motorcyclists tend to look further ahead and ride more defensively (don't we?).
The only time I was hit by another vehicle (a light truck that lost control on a bend and slid sideways into my lane) in 30 years sent me on a short period of flight while my bike (RD 350) was reduced to a ball of tangled metal and shoved into a small retaining wall. Pinged ribs kept me quiet for a while but I often wonder how I would have fared trapped in a car in the same accident.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

Yes! this is a bikers forum but there are a number of members on here that drive cages but are thinking of changing over. Let's not discourage them...![]()

The whole point of this thread was for me to ask whether other people before starting out biking felt a bit worried about the dangers... don't flame me for asking!!
I'm gonna make it so PC
Sorry, deepest apologies, point taken, Maaf, bedauern and kissy kissy to make up if I sounded too serious and offended you Vixter.Originally Posted by vixter

To be honest I always feel a bit worried about the dangers but the need for more riding experiences keeps me on a bike..Watch out next time you drink a cuppa tea as there have been people that have got it wrong and drowned in it..Life has its hurdles I guess and we do our best..Originally Posted by BuFfY

I am hesitant over that fact though, being that I know it would hurt a hell of alot more to come off a bike, or be hit by a car while on a bike. I guess all I can say is that you do only live once. So you may as well have as many experiences in your life as you can. Like with me, I AM getting a bike eventually. If I don't like it, at least I can say I've had that experience.
My sentiments exactly. I think you develop a 6th, 7th and 8th sense.Originally Posted by Oakie

You feel secure in the cage so become complacent.
On the bike, you notice and prepare for so many possibilities without even thinking about it. First rule of thumb. If you think that they have seen you, you have made the wrong assumption. Always assume that they are going to change into your lane without indicating, turn in front of you or be general ar@#holes.
