Monster or stick with the BMW?

Thinking about trading in my BMW 650GS for a Ducati Monster, probably the 695, but am wondering if anyone currently rides a monster and how useable these are day-to-day for commuting etc etc. Also, has anyone ever used a monster for touring or are long distance rides a definant no no?

    Cheers

Stick with the bmw mate, you will find it a bit hard to take a monster on a adventure ride lol.

    Go for the monster

The BMW may be very efficient and practical but it is so BORING

    Monsters are a fun bike

Have owned both, build quality if the beemer was excellent but it was so very very boring

Bikes are about pashion, excitment and adrenalen

If you want boring functionality keep the bemmer or buy a volvo

Go for a Multistrada - you get the fun (heaps of it) plus a fair bit of comfort. 1000km days no problem.

Yeah, had looked at the Multistrada but heard the finishing was questionable i.e. after a ride, need to clean sort of thing.

The BMW is efficient and practical but nothing more. Thinking the monster will give that bit more of excitement...

    Touring on Monster

Been around the South island three times on my Monster. Travel at least 300ks a day normally more.
    Rode Picton to Franz Josef
Franz to Cromwell, then off to St bathans and Back
Cromwell to Te Anua via the Catlins
Te Anau up the Milford and Back to Cromwell
    Cromwell to Karamea
    Karamea to Blenhiem
    Blenhiem back to Auckland.

So I reckon touring on them is cool. Set of Ventura packs and away we go.
I go for weekend rides up SH16 most weekends and use it for a bit of commuting.

Works for me, not offroad of course, except for one corner, oops.
