    I need more power.....

... hi all, I have a '03 R6 that I am trying to race. It is fitted with a scorpion slip on exhaust, K&N filter and a power comander. I have spent a day on the dyno, with a base run without power comander of 99.42hp max power and 42.35ft-lbs max torque. After 6 hours on the dyno we got 100.36hp max power and 42.43ft-lbs max torque. I raced the thing at Paeroa, and found it alot more responsive and smoother on the throttle. My questions are,

How much should I expect out of the bike ?
How much power are those other 600's making ?
Should my Ignition table show all zeros?
Will slide stops and velocity stacks help? much?

    P.S. I am mechanicly handicaped
    Thanks for your input

You can add a few extra numbers, but only if you're running high-octane fuel. I was running a PCII with up to 4 degrees of ignition advance in the upper quarter of the rev range, and 98 octane. Dunno if it helped, but it didn't blow up.

I've heard aftermarket velocity stacks help on the '05 CBR600RR, so presumably your bike could benefit too.
However, I don't think that the manufacturers leave much horsepower on the table for us to find, not without serious mods at least, like cams, pistons, etc.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

The later model 600's make around the 110+ hp mark (at rear wheel)

    If you want my advise...

You might be better off looking at weight reduction instead of power gains. Have you raced it yet? Is it competitive in it's current form?

What suspension work has been done to it?, quite often that is more cost effective than more HP

I agree, much more value in making sure your handling and brakes are well sorted , no use having power when you cant use it.

Steve my opinion.Don't waste ya time and effort hunting for more power.
Focus on the suspension handling and getting the gearing right to suit each track.
Once ya start hunting more power--Trust me its a VERY deep black hole

Thanks for all of that feedback, Robert Taylor has had a go at the suspension with ohlins rear and re-valved forks. The bike has done 22kkm, I got it as a damaged repo from turners, so I guess I can't expect too much.
I had a '99 R6 before this one, which had about the same amount of grunt, but the '03 is much easier to ride.
