Bought a bike with 50,000kms up and sold it for what I bought it for with an extra 12,000kms up. Bought a bike with 70,000kms up and can sell it for more than I bought it for 20 years later. Go figure..........................

I think we need some lessons in how to write survey questions... (written as somebody who averages 35,000km a year on bikes)
Way ta go Hitcher I've only made 31500Km Feb 05 - Feb 06 and 24000Km the year before. Would like the 20,000 ta 40,000Km myself.

    Cool

My Virago is a 1997 model.
She was 3 years old when I brought her with less than 3000 on the clock...

She is nine years old with 79000 on the clock now.

So my baby is clocking up on average 9000 per year and still running sweet.

    So doing some figures:
    79000 - 3000 = 76000 devided by 6 yrs = 12,666
is what I am doing on my baby since I have owned her.

Two years ago it had a wee rest for 5 weeks - operation - Carpel Tunnel
Last year she had a 8 week hoilday - operation - Hysterectomy.
Now another 8 week holiday - accident - left knee in legbrace.
So in 6 years of owning her she has had 21 weeks downtime.

i've done a tad under 20,000km on the R6 since end of October last year, so i spose i'd be looking at somewhere between 40,000 and 50,000 for a year.

I really need to get a commuter thrash to keep the km's down but i dont really think im going to sell the R6 in the long term, but rather save up and have a better bike for weekend rides and this one for thrash/track/stunt etc

It's amazing when you actually think about it, but commuting between Upper Hutt and Wellington 5 days a week is putting about 17,000 kms on the bike each year.

Add about 3,000 in fun and its looking a hell of a lot more than I thought. At this rate the bike will have 100,000 kms on it before I know it. Its just under 90000 right now. It had 72000 on it when I bought it 10 months ago.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

I'm averaging 1500k's a year, excluding dirt k's. Should be lower this year due to the Montesa. I was riding it for 5 hours straight and probably only did about 5-10kms in total

I'm about 10-15000. It varies by up to 3000km every year, so its not really a set in stone.
Agree with others above though, if a bike has been looked after, it'll keep on chugging no worries- but I spose that goes for anything really

if/when I ever have a bike on the road for a full 12 months I'll be looking around the 20-25K

All depends how busy I am, I can clock up a 1000 kms over a weekend. A kb ride on both Sat and Sun.
Speed limits are just a suggestion, like pants.
