on the contrary, I've seen dashed white lines in places that I'd never even consider overtaking on the bike, let alone a car etc..

good on ya GB for seeing the brighter side of the fact that they're just doing their job..

I saw an unmarked corolla on saturday on SH1 and I'd never have really picked up on it from a distance. What may have been a bit sneaky, was that he was doing 120 with everyone else on the empty road. May be he was going somewhere and had something to do already, or waiting for someone to break free..?? Anyway, it could be almost any car that's an unmarked one now. And I'd never think to run (I'm too chicken), but I couldn't help but think that wee little corolla better have something non-standard under the hood if they're to keep up with V8s and WRXs/Evos etc.. let alone a bike.. but they have one thing that outruns everything - radios..

and WTF is a cleansing day? sounds like shit to me.

In simple terms 'Coolness'......my Avator will give you a clue but Fair enough if you think it sounds like shit....but you are missing out

Cops giving tickets for something they say they wouldn't have usually bothered for,

is still a pain in the ass.

    No pains in my arse

If you have trouble in the wind, then perhaps you shouldn't have been overtaking anyway.

Mmmmm....mmm.....there were no cars coming the other way which is why I did it otherwise I would not have overtaken........

What if the wind blew you into an oncoming car/truck hugging the centreline? Then you'd be the one on the "Negative Cloud"

I am too honest plus if I did get too many points, I would have no trubs getting a 'Day Licence' so no point putting myself at risk and trying to get away.

I do not have a problem with the cops browsing forum. If guys put up stupid stuff then that is their look out and I know I will get bad rep but I really believe that the Cops have the best interests and hey, a big site like ours is gonna attract attention, just like the fact we ride bikes....

Lets just hope that they are sensible enough to be able to identify and ignore the extremist views, bravado etc. I'm [pleasantly] surprised he admitted it.

There are a lot of people check this website while they are at work. Including me right now:-)

    Noone mentioned doing a runner....
If perhaps you hadn't pulled over then the car hopefully would have and you would have possibly got away with it.
If the cops take an interest in the forums thats a good thing. At least then they may see where a lot of guys are coming from and if they're aware of us it may at some point help our cause.

You do have a fair point there and in some aspects I agree with it.

However, I don't feel comfortable with the idea that the Police are watching these forums with the intent of gathering evidence or information on "illegal activities". In one way or another, as motorcyclist we break laws more often than a Cager would due to a raft of variables.

To really enjoy motorcycles, it is "normal" for laws to be broken.

Now, I've heard on a few occasions where Kiwi Bikers have been stopped and identified for one reason or another as members of Kiwi Biker. The Police are starting to show more interest, so does that mean it will be impossible to accurately organise decent rides without convertly doing it through Private Messaging?

I guess that this site has grown a lot so interest is just in line with that.............so nothing really alarming....if you see what I mean.....

Are sure that there's no demerit points? I've got a ticket before which didn't have any demerit points written on the ticket itself but when I was sent a reminder notice there were demerit points.

Seems you can even get demerit points for attempting to pass where no passing lines are marked. Hmmm...

Must admit I regard alot of yelo lines as being there for cars, if I can pass safely I will (emphasis on SAFELY). And if there is plenty of road on the other side I will cross the line and use it to get past asap rather than blast by within a whisker of the car... Saw a driver just about lose it last time I was up north as 3 of us went past at warp speed... (well maybe not warp but ya get the idea?)... I guess I have been lucky so far re:getting ticketed. Anyways when I am out for a blat I tend to avoid the main roads and my buddy has a radar detector...and it works ;-)

I only went down SH1 cause we came up SH16 and there was a lot of new seal plus weather was iffy...........my detector, if I had one, may not have picked him up cause it had just taken a reading of the other geezer and he had a hand held laser.

It was safe honest......straight stretch and no cars and I had a pillion.....I was only doing about 110kph.

    Stay safe BB
