Bummer about the ticket...could have made it look good by "talking" to ya while ticketing the other fella. I guess "contacts" don't count any more like they used to up there and it is all "quotas" everywhere now.

I would doubt there is anything you can do about the cops comment about no demerits, coz not everyone knows everything about all the rules and laws and penalties on the side of the road.

But, as you have 28 days to pay, don't. You will get a "reminder" notice for another 28 days...by then your earlier points will have fallen by the way? And then comes the final reminder notice, I believe, for yet another 28 days???... Will be long gone ancient history by then?

Which was good news for me since I'd only had my license back two weeks. But alas, it did have points attached, as I found out later when I checked my driving history to get car insurance. A day license? Still costs money no matter the reason for it. That could be an expensive passing maneouvre. But I agree with you for not running. Personally I might have kept going a little longer, but I wouldn't have run - not 2up in high winds.

BJ - can't outrun the radio? Oh please!
The cop has to write on the ticket:"he's a good boy and I said he doesn't have to have points for this offence.I'll give his points to the next tax payer I audit"

Got to agree with you Grahame, I used to get all bitter and twisted over traffic offences. Now I don't give a rats ass. I mean, I'll do my best NOT to get the ticket, but if I get busted, I get busted, if I don't, bonus. Either way, raised blood pressure and crying over spilt milk doesn't alter the outcome - you still end up with the ticket!

Patrick, I think you might find your timing a bit off there. I thought it was reasonably well documented here (and through my own experience) that demerits apply from the date of offence, even though they may physically not be applied to your "tab" until they are paid.

Thanks for that info cos thats something I have been wondering about. After having a clean licence for yrs I got 35 demerits Easter last yr but was pretty slow in paying... So going by what you reckon I am clean again this Easter??? YEE HA!

I may have to call the Police and ask them about the demerit points and 3 monther as I need to get my day licence if I am gonna get points......I guess the Cop should know about points as I asked him and Jules witnessed him say that............I even told him I was on 70... and he said "You'll be alright then"......Jules said last night...."he didn't seem the kind of guy who would say otherwise"......ah well at least, I think, I will be clean after 3 months......and fitter.

Lucky I live in Devonport and get the ferry to work and Jules is okay about it......phew

You may be right there... I am no snake expert...but, I "think" (oooohhh... that hurt...) that by delaying the payment, the points due to expire will be gone and the new ones will be added to the new current running total... apologies if I am wrong, but what do I know...

Write in and dispute it pointing out the coppers error...buys a little more time and watch those "due to expire" points disappear into cyberspace.. And ya never know, maybe they might make the ticket also disappear under the circumstances?
