Lil help required (Chch bike parts shops)

    Mornin'!...

Err, this is a little vague, but for my wee screamroundthestreetsminibike (as below) i bought a back bearing for it a while ago. Pretty standard bearing, only cost me 10$.

But the thing is i didnt have a roadbike then, i were in my suby (which i wisely sold ) and thus while driving i had my eye caught by this store.
The store had a massive garage door which was pretty much the shop front

and a few bikes out the front, and as you walked in, first thing you saw on the left hand side were some nice anodized rear sprokets, all purdy lookin with yellows golds reds 'n blues then further down from that there were some 2stroka exhaust systems hung on the wall, or hung to a mesh fency thing.

Vague i know, but im trying to find the store again and i have nfi what its called or anything nor can i seem to find it again.

Im pretty sure its on the right side of moorhouse ave as your heading down towards phillipstown way, or towards fitzgerald ave..

    Any ideas?

or if ya dont know maybe you know of some other good parts stores?
Im just lookin for a new exhaust to add a nice tone to my screaming exhaust (sounds good, but sounds very hollow and buh )

I think it is Pit lane, on manchester
although the sprockets are on the right as you go in?
But there is plenty of mesh, but I dunno about the huge garage doors... They're also pretty good.

no actually I might be wrong. Gah I know the one you mean though because people keep refering me to it. but the directions I was given point to the left of moorehouse after going down towards fitzgerald.. towards ferry road.

it would have to be MID wouldnt it? just from the location + description: they have a steel door (it used to be the bus workshop) and its on Moorhouse just before the Fitzgerald intersection. (North side of the street, at the Eastern end).

    www.mid.co.nz

That or Budget M/cycle on Wilsons Rd which is about 300m from there.

Ummm, that would be 300m to Jade Stadium, Budget would be a good 3x that distance.

You're looking for Budget Motorcycle Spares on Wilsons Rd just past Jade Stadium, turn off Ferry Rd.
90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.

Ooohh. Thank you very much for your help everyone . Now that ive woken from my slumber (vampiric sleeping behavioural patterns -_-) i'll get me gear on and go for a cruise!

btw, that turbo that was just sitting on the bike at the time its going to be geardriven with a ratio close to 32:1 with that wee 125cc b&s engine spinning its max rpms of 3800.

geardriving a turbo i understand changes the name of the device altogether to whats called a Pressure Wave Supercharger. Ford used a belt driven turbo on a Telstar tx5 diesel i think and it worked well, so im trying in on a motorbike!

This awesome lil puntaround bike aint good for wheelies, stoppies or anything like that , it just goes (max speed of about 64 km/h ) and its great fun people think its a huge laugh when you overtake them in a 50km/h zone :P:P...

Spot the gearhead. i bathe with my motorcycle parts in the bath hence why im single

Edit: In the photo which is a bit old now, i realised that by beltdriving it, the turbo would be spinning the wrong way -_-. so im looking for some gears (anything from 30 teef upwards, and 10 - 20 teef )

I think you may be mistaken about the pressurewave supercharger, it is diven off the crankshaft but dosent have an impeller like a turbo. It requires the exhaust pressurewave to force the intake air into the enginewith a rotating cylinder divided into segments. The turbo impeller probably uses more HP than that motor produces. It looks good though!!

Btw, this charger will be driven off the crankshaft rotations also, obviously a single cyl 125cc engine wouldnt make nuff gases to spin the turbo normally.

And i've seen the unit on the ford i spoke of, and it was just honestly a turbo with a belt drive end, running off the engine pulley.

And also have you seen the Pikes Peak racer ep of Monster garage? the exact same thing is done there

All an exhaust driven turbo does is spin the turbine using exhaust gasses (and the compressor wheel because it's connected to the turbine via a shaft). A turbo can be belt driven, all you need to do is spin the compressor wheel a different way than using exhaust gasses - with a belt. The belt replaces the exhaust driven turbine.

Though I imagine there would be gears between the belt drive and the compressor wheel or it wouldn't spin fast enough to create enough boost, as stanko seems to be getting at... turbos can spin at over 100,000rpm.

Hmm maybe ya have a point. but you dont find these things out till you try!

Btw it'll be running a heafty reduction, probably a 50 toof cog on the front with the turbo only having a 15 toof or something like that. Should be good for some boost at least.

anyway i have this same subject up in another thread http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=27284 .
Like i said over there, if it dont work, the cool factor will be alll there

Btw i'll probably just fill the turbos shaft cavity up with a heavy duty oil, and stick a cork in it!
