They are having a few problems locating replacements due to the age of the bike, so I'm still waiting to find out how much it is going to cost me and if it is actually worth it.

So it looks like I will not be able to make this ride (unless I can persuade her indoors to let me get something else this week)

Shop rang yesterday to say that they can fix the motor for about $350 so I've told them to go ahead and do it. But I doubt if it will be ready in time for the week-end. The youngest son is currently eyeing up the bike so I'm quite happy to get this one back on the road. Single pot 250, 19 years old (the bike not the son). It will do him to get on the road without having the power to kill himself. But hold on a mo. If he is riding the CBX, I'll need something else to be able to ride with him
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

Passed my licence, no problems, so I'll be all legal for this ride. It was suprisingly easy and only took about 15 minutes. The guy out at kilbirnie was really good and I would recommend sitting any licence there. All mine involved was a loop around outer kilbirnie. He said they usually have a radio so he can give you instructions as you go, but since he didn't have them that day he just followed and observed.

I sat my restricted in Kilbirnie yesterday too. It was really laid back. Did you have any trouble finding the place? Noone told me it was at the bowling club!

did he say what he was looking at? like do we have to keep to the right of the lane or the left of the lane? surely he doesn't expect us to ride in the middle lol

Took it to Boyles in the City.
The guy in J'Ville wasn't even interested in looking at it. I wasn't very impressed with his arrogant attitude.
Without even looking at the bike He said that he had heard me go passed a few times and the motor was shot.

I said 'Oh! do you think so!' to which he replied ' I know so. That's my job and I've been doing this for years!'. Arrogant Pr*^k .

The guy's in Boyles couldn't be more helpful. Came out, listened to the bike. Discussed a couple of options (worst case/best case senarios) of what it might be but suggested that until the motor was opened, it would be hard to say what the problem was.
That's all I could ask for. Someone that just wanted to be friendly and helpful.

Same here! Finally I have a free weekend and this will be my first KB ride!!

I'm also happy that it's a newbie ride.... I took the GS over the hill this afternoon and discovered that since I haven't done much riding in ten years, and I've only just got the bike, I REALLY SUCKED

Anybody got a spare L plate??

It didn't look like you were going slow when I went past you the other way. Did you notice the mufti-cop heading north as you came down the hill?? I had a great time overtaking it in 2nd...

Opps.. no, didn't see him... but I also don't remember a big red Zed!! (I must be going blind!)
Mind you, by that stage I was probably too busy trying to figure out how to get past the mad prick in the Hilux ute...

Coming down the hill wasn't so bad, but going up (chased by a WRX) was a shocking mix of bad lines, wrong gears and stupid braking... but at least I confused the hell out of the WRX driver!
