I'm at my folks place - and Dad's just given me a pic he took back in circa 1969 at the Otaki Beach races of a friend of his.
Any of you guys recognise who it is? I know, just wondering if you recognise it.
A clue, he died recently of cancer.

Reason: got the date wrong 1969 not 1964
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Don't know who it is, but its prob. circa 74. Its The first model Kawasaki 500, which came out....1970?
Good for 110 mph (175kph) down View Rd in Mt Eden! (30mph (50kph) limit for all you PC types)
PS - is your location for real?
- He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it.
He was the chief motorcycle mechanic for Lawton and Boyle Wellington at the time.
On reflection Dad says it may be early 70s. No date on the photo.

I was going to say Alan Collinson because of the glasses, until you added this because I don't remember him working in Wellington and besides I think he's still alive.
As for date it would have to be 70's because if I remember rightly that first H1 was launched in USA in 1969 but we did not see it until 1970.
He's a friend of Dad's called Dale Wood, who was well known in the 70s and 80s racing scene.
He used to race a German Micoletta motor scooter in the 250 class at the Levin Motor Races in the 70s, much to the chagrin of his opposition on NSU's etc when he used to place highly against them.
We were just talking about my childhood last night and he dug out some photos.

The name rings a bell for some reason but I didn't know him. Do you know if he road raced? I had a friend who raced a Mach III at the races that were held around Porirua shopping centre about that era - Wayne Eglington. Does your Dad recall that name?
(What did you do to get kicked out - arrive home with a new R1?)
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.
